Basic acknowledgement. Depends on my partner. Alone, I call it Single's Celebration day.

While I agree with the general notion that appreciation is every day, most of the people expressing this opinion seem to think those in an actually functioning relationship only show their love on Valentine's day. They don't. It is usually matter of more, to which one may ask "Why not everyday?"

Same reason why holidays and such exist the way they do. Because then it demeans the concept of celebration or commemoration. I dislike how the axiom of used, since every two-bit armchair adolescent philosopher spout off something they heard off the internet. In the end, I have to explain my reasoning and my views so I do not come off as some fool who thinks his controversial opinions are original or otherwise.

Most of those who say such a thing in such a manner likely have never been in a relationship, balancing the person they love with familial responsibilities, careers, and a job.

As powerful as love is, and while I am fairly confident I would go through a great deal of hardships for my beloved, my life isn't solely focused around my partner, as big a part of my life they are. I have higher education to pursue, other people I want to spend time with, and the need to procure currency.

It isn't that fucking simple. When you're a teenager, you have a lot less on your plate. To add on, the very idea of setting aside one day or so in particular is a bit more convenient, but that's life. This isn't to say you shouldn't attempt to show when you could, be there when they need it, but yeah.

Life.

it's a holiday created by greedy folks in another attempt to suck money from people. I'm gullible with the plushies, otherwise the holiday means nothing to me. one should show love and appreciation to someone every day not just a cliche of one day where there's more money wasted than need be.

'Tis just another day.
While I appreciate Karl Valentin's works I don't typically celebrate the obit of celebrities and for some reason it's off by 5 days anyway.

Being serious for a moment:
I have long since referred to Valentine's Day as the international day of the florist and sweets industry.
When I'm in a relationship I don't need an arbitrary day to show my affection when I can do it every day and there's enough personal anniversaries to celebrate (one of which happens to be ten days after Valetine's day anyway).
And when I'm not in a relationship, well, what's the point?
The whole thing is just a construct to get people to spend money because they feel obligated to.

I bake for the office party and bring flower deliveries to my coworker's desks None of it is for me. This is my life. I make other people's Valentine's Day happy while remaining forever alone. Ten years, going strong! Happy Valentine's day folks!

I don’t know anyone who seriously celebrates it other than couples.
