I got 3 and in no certain order. I just don't know hidden they are.

1. KARAKAI JOZU NO TAKAGI-SAN http://www.crunchyroll.com/karakai-jozu-no-takagi-san Just a fun show as Takagi-san teases Nishikitia-Kun.

2. A Place Further Than the Universe http://www.crunchyroll.com/a-place-further-than-the-universe A great show with 'real' characters who are not archetypes that one normally sees in anime.

3. School Babysitters http://www.crunchyroll.com/school-babysitters Normally I'd not watch a shoe like this since the topic doesn't seem to be one I'd like. But I actually enjoy the show and the relationships that are formed in the series. My only complaint is all the kids seem chubby for their ages, but since I have no kids I'd not take my complaint real seriously.

Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens is the surprise of the season for me.
I pretty much knew I'd like the cgdct shows, I went into Overlord II, Grancrest War and Death March with the expectation to like them.
And then there was Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens. The promotional blurb sounded interesting enough to check it out but made me question if the show was going to work out. I really wasn't sure what to think of the premise and half expected to drop it after three episodes.
The first episode was iffy, but by the end of the second I was hooked. The whole thing might still fall apart by the conclusion but for now I'm pleasantly surprised by the quality of the writing.

Violet Evergarden
Sadly, the availability of this one is pretty spotty because it's one of the rare cases where a show absolutely lives up to it's pre-release hype. Gorgeous art and animation backed up by a really endearing cast and touching story. Just great. More people should be watching this (and I'm sure more would be if they could).

After The Rain
Despite the potentially questionable premise this one is coming together really really well. I have no idea where it will end up but it's a great dramatic ride where ever it ends up. Very well crated and you actually care about the characters and want the best for them.

Only half season. Still waiting for the dregs to settle...

Was going to list a handful that should get a look, and ones that are truly "hidden" because "Netflix" — but two jump out most. These are overshadowed by the hype (but not necessarily the substance) of heavily promoted anime.

Hakumei and Mikochi

What i have to say about this one? For one thing, it's something you don't see every day. And that's also where Friday officially kicks off, after few days of studying.

Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody

When it started, i thought "Another isekai? Don't we have enough of these?" But after about 1-2 episodes, i started to enjoy it more. Also, OP and ED are very great to listen.

Based on these numbers, I was very surprised to see Violet Evergarden mentioned; considering it's the most popular Winter Newcomer, and eclipses the next Newcomer by more than 90,000 members. It seems to be on pace to eclipse the 2nd overall most popular, Mahoutsukai no Yome. Takagi-san, After the Rain, and Kokkoku were also mentioned, though they're relatively popular.

As for my hidden gems, I think a number of wonderful Slice of Life shows hover around 20,000s members. Though special mentions to Hakumei to Mikochi (with only 20,874 MAL members). That show is a pleasant slice of life in a fantasy setting (which is quite uncommon). The show has a very non-standard races with tiny people and talking/highly intelligent animals. The sound design is also highly immersive. Another one of my hidden gems is gdgd men's party (with only 1,310 MAL members). While the production value isn't at all stellar, I find it to be one of the most amusing and hilarious shows of the season.

People don't understand what a hidden gem is.

That said: Gakuen Babysitters and Hakumei to Mikochi

Both amazing shows that virtually no one is talking about

That number 249,570 is a total of all interest, not a ranking based on actual viewership.

AS OF FEB 17:
Watching: 124,271
Completed: 16
On-Hold: 2,884
Dropped: 2,428
Plan to Watch: 120,061
Total: 249,660

Almost half the potential viewers have either not begun watching, or are unable to watch yet.

Hakata tonkotsu ramens. Not a lot of people are talking about it and easily one of the most entertaining shows this season despite its lackluster production quality.

Very true and unfortunate. Still though, among the Newcomers, it still dominates when you look at just the actual viewership MAL numbers. Astounding when almost 50% of total members haven't seen it. Being licensed by Netflix, Nanatsu no Taizai also shares this 50%-50% watching and plan to watch dynamic.

Had to double check. Thought you were talking about Ms. Koizumi Loves Ramen Noodles forr a second. was about to perma block you lol. HOnestly it reminds me of Psycho Pass meets Mirai Nikki. But thats my opinion so far.
