I've been waiting for volume 17 of Princess Jellyfish to come out on Crunchyroll since it's the last volume for the series. I initially thought that perhaps it would be released at some point but was taking some time due to translation, etc. Could it please be explained as to why the final volume is not going to be available under the current membership and only available via purchasing from the app?
Is this something dictated by Kodansha or a conscious move by Crunchyroll? It's in bad taste to offer everything but the last volume to paying customers, then only make the last volume available through additional purchase.

It's probably Kodansha. As I mentioned earlier they've been starting new simulpubs over to Comixology while I don't even know what the last Kodansha series to start here was. Although who knows, Crunchyroll also doesn't have volume 6 of Orange (titled "Future" but being clearly labeled as the 6th volume) despite being out for a while in Japan and releasing in English from Seven Seas about a month ago and that isn't a Kodansha title.

Too bad.... There's no way I'm gonna read almost 200 chapters of The Seven Deadly Sins in a few days. I liked being able to read a couple of chapters while I was on break at work or out somewhere. Guess I'll have to find something else to read once you lose most of the chapters.

Hello, long time Crunchyroll member here! Oh wait there’s manga? I collect what I am interested in manga wise. I like to own complete collections of what I do choose to collect. I also collect light novels when available of certain series’s. The manga selection here has always felt tacked on at best. I had no idea you sold digital copies? I own a IPad and this makes manga ok in my mind to view. iBooks for IOS is a joke though compared to kindle! Amazons got IBooks beaten and bloody it the books game of thrones! So I will not miss what I rarely bothered to Check! Do as your corporate will wishes!

And here I was under the impression that Fuuka was basically over.

Eh... I probably shouldn't change my impression based just on this. The plot seems like it's basically down to loose ends.

Not surprised at all. Crunchy Roll has not been the same since it was bought out a couple years ago. My feelings tell me that Crunchy roll and Funimation will cease to be within the next 2-3 years and we will be forced to pay more for a VRV subscription. Really there is no other reason for crunchy roll to push VRV so hard if the idea was not to eventually merge. I think this is a step in that direction. Remember campers Monopolies are killers of creativity and low prices.

It's not like CR has a monopoly anywhere. In Canada if I want to watch Kokkoku or Koiame I have to go to Amazon, Violet Evergarden I have to go to Netflix (same with Saiki S2, SDS S2 and Fate/Extra but I need to wait), Mitsuboshi Colors or Hakumei and Mikochi I have to go to HIDIVE, etc. I guess you can say Crunchyroll has a monopoly on the shows they're airing (aside from a few like Pop Team Epic) but that's how TV and streaming always are and probably always will be.

Yeah, and the corporate executives or board (or whoever makes those decisions) is probably smart enough to know that customers don't like being asked to pay substantially more to get services they don't want. For me, as an annual CR subscriber (not Premium+), my $5/month would blow up to 200% for VRV at $10/month. Anime isn't an essential utility. There would be a mass exodus.

Just want to clarfify that you don't have to pay $10/month on VRV if you just want Crunchyroll content. You can subscribe to just the Crunchyroll channel on VRV for about $7 a month--the same as a monthly premium membership on crunchyroll.com, though yes, it is more than your $5/month you pay with an annual membership since VRV doesn't have an annual option. Regardless, it's less than the the $10 you claimed. That $10 is the price for a bundle that contains things you might not want, but you don't have to get the bundle; you can subscribe to separate channels "a la carte."

@lorreen Okay, I'm surprised that that exists, since I can already use the CR channel in the VRV app with my linked CR account. I thought rforant was suggesting that everyone would be forced to buy into the bundle plan.

Switching to that would be the same as getting rid of the annual plan discount, which isn't so unreasonable. Funimation got rid of my $3.33/month annual plan when the CR deal went through in 2016 (I got a prorated refund).
