So personally I feel the anime had tons of potential, from the art work and story. Too the very adhesive character depth, I do not feel as if we rightfuly received what this great anime deserved!

Wuh? Wasn't the second season just announced?
How's anyone going to be able to judge something that's still in development?

I'm not sure but he might be mentioning Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?: Sword Oratoria, which wasn't good.

Ah, the spinoff. I had sequestered that away in the corner of my mind reserved for titles that never happened, no matter what everyone else claims.
As far as spinoffs go it really wasn't stellar, Ais made for a terrible protagonist by comparision.

Yup, second season was confirmed, and here I was thinking a second season would never get done because of the content and lack of popularity.

Since we haven't had the continuing adventures of Albino Woman and Her Seven Wives yet, I'm going to have to say 'yes'.

There was also the issue with it often seeming like Lefiya was the real protagonist.

I admit I quit after like the second or third episode and never looked back. I loved the original (despite not liking fanservice much), but there was nothing in the spinoff of the charm of the original. I rather suspect they might have done better with a whole different bunch characters set in the same world and a different MC that could hold their own as neither Ais nor Lefiya could.

I enjoyed Sword Oratoria. Except for the jealous elf chick, she needs to die in a fire. The rest of the show was good though.

That said, the reason I liked it is because it didn't really seem to be a "by the main character, for the main character" type of show. By which I mean, a lot of these LN anime are 100% from the PoV of the main character and they are also power fantasies. It's like max ego trip, I don't really like that type of story telling.

If you take Sword Oratoria though, while it was a power trip for the blonde chick, a good chunk of it wasn't about her but the underlying story. This is in opposition to the original Danmachi, which should basically be renamed to "Everybody Loves Bell-kun"

I agree with xxJing. I enjoyed it. Though it wasn't 9 our of 10 nor even a 8 or a 7. That said I really like the way certain anime do spin offs that kind of fill in the blanks if you get what I mean. Certain magical index was good, having access to scientific rail-gun made the whole thing even better. Even if the story wasn't the best you feel a sense of immersion when you see what the other characters were doing during the story.

Still have no idea why people hated that series. I thought it was a great spinoff and well deserved. But im in the minority here. that much was clear the last time someone started a forum about it. Thought AIS was great. but im a sucker for kudare characters. Oh well ill keep enjoying my blu ray collection of both series.

I still have yet to watch the spin off but I feel that should've been made AFTER the 2nd season, not before

It was mostly parallel with the events of the original series, so chronologically, it made sense for it to come before a second season.

From a more practical standpoint, it made sense to do so to keep interest in the series up, since they were not ready to make a second run of the main series at that time.

The focus was off in sword ortoria. Unfortuanatly they cut naration from Ais. And gave the elf girl more time then needed. She is part of the novels and manga but is secondary to Ais. Seems like whoever was in charge wanted to give her the lead.
