For me it was InuYasha, near the end I began to fall in love with Kagome and then scary stuff happened and then I had to wait for what seemed like forever to find out what Kagome's fate would be.

I think Berserk and HxH would be easy anwsers because you know they took years for issues to come out or for a ARC to be concluded but if i dad to choose one of those it would the Chimera Arc for HxH. It took literal years for it to finish, plus you had a team of exceedingly strong and intelligent people trying to beat a threat that they had absolutely no chance against from the start, a threat that far outclassed them in everyway leaving them with 10% possibility of victory.

The whole Chimera ARC was suspenseful before and during the battle.

Hmmm... I'm gonna have to go with "Flowers of Evil" by Shūzō Oshimi. I went into it not really knowing what to expect (which is the best way), and the way that everything unfolds... is pretty intense. If you haven't read it, I highly suggest it .

I'm gonna say Qwan because there was a gap of a few years between when Tokyopop went under and when I found it on one of those sites we do not name. And it left off on a major cliffhanger.

I'd say Trail of Blood by Shūzō (Inside Mary/ Flower of Evil) was one of the few horror/ suspense manga
that straight up unnerved me.

I mean if we're talking length, I've been waiting for a conclusion to Candidate for Goddess for like 20 years. Typically the ones that bug me the most are waiting to see which route the protagonist chooses. Wrench after stereotypical wrench I'm still invested in those shounen love triangles. Nisekoi had me going for a while and they threw in a pretty good one to off-set the typical predictability of the "childhood friend"

Recently it's been Masamune-kun no Revenge, because they're actually teasing Yoshino route and I've been on that ship since the anime.

Dead Dead Demons Dededede Destruction reads much like a slice of life, but there is this growing sense that something is off and very, very wrong. Page by page the impending sense of dread and doom gradually builds.

I think what makes it so unsettling is how well it mirrors our own world where despite the fact there is every sign that our own society has gone off the rails and that we are slowly slipping into the end times, people continue to live their lives relatively normally. Slowly the cracks spread through the fabric of our society and into our minds and lives. Gradually the world and those who live in it come undone.
