Hey guys might be a silly question but I went to crunchyrolls movie night a while back and seen kabaneri of the iron fortress and I enjoyed it, I wanted to watch it again this weekend with some friends who’ve never heard of it. But I can’t seem to find it on here, am I missing something or was it all just a one time deal for crunchyroll and was just in theatres ??

It may be a one time thing. The discussion thread for it ( http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-947211/kabaneri-of-the-iron-fortress-discussion ) says it was on Amazon Prime.

Toward the end of that thread, they say that it was erroneously added to Funimation and VRV briefly, and has since been corrected.

I've moved this to the Advice, Info, Recommendations forum.

Amazon has the streaming rights to the series, and if you are a Prime member you can watch it there on Prime Video. You can also buy the series on DVD/Blu-Ray -- it just came out mid-January.

Even though Amazon has the streaming rights, Crunchyroll has the home video rights so it makes sense they were interested in sponsoring the movie night event for the compilation movies-- an exclusive theatrical release. Doesn't look like those have since been made available streaming anyplace legit.

EDIT: As so often happens, while I'm slowly drafting a reply, checking my info and wandering around to confirm it, asharka serves it all up quickly.

Amazon has a deal for exclusive streaming of all Noitamina titles (beginning with Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress). This means that while other companies can obtain other rights (home video, theatrical, etc.), no one else can stream it until the term of those rights (which is unknown to the public) expires.

One way to watch it would be to purchase it on Steam:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/600880/

The current $16.68 bundle price for the series there is quite a bit less than the cost of the Blu-ray set (currently $39.79).

It may seem odd given what I said that you would be streaming it to view it after purchase, but it would be more accurate to say Amazon's exclusive covers SVOD (subscription video on demand) rights. Digital sales, whether download or streaming, are separate rights.

That said, if you've never signed up for Amazon Prime, you could sign up, watch the series before the free trial (30 days, as I recall) expires, and then cancel.
