Hey all, I haven't been on this site for a minute, but remembered that this is the one group I'm in on here. The dark clouds of offseason have parted, blessing us with a colourful new grid on display at a snowy first testing round at Catalunya.

So, let's hear it here first. Give us your hot takes, your livery judgement, your season predictions. Is Alonso cursed to another bad season, even free of the shadow of Honda? Is Max Verstappen going to, yet again, be the youngest F1 driver to do a thing? Will Hulk finally get a podium?

Update for Mclaren fans:

Hello darkness my old friend...

Update #2:

Will Buxton gives his summary of testing for each team - https://twitter.com/wbuxtonofficial/status/972442559355203584

I really can't wait to see how things will pan out in Melbourne. As a Ferrari fan, I'm not quite feeling the hype train this year so far.

Can't believe I didn't notice that you posted this thread until now !!!

Despite the halo massively dampening my enthusiasm towards the new season generally, I am starting to look forward to the first race next weekend. (seriously, all I see when I look at the new cars is that monstrosity - hopefully I'll be able to ignore it after a few races, but I'm skeptical at this point...)

As for start of season predictions... I think it will be business as usual for the most part. I do think McLaren will make a big jump this year and that we'll see Alonso on the podium again, and I also think that Williams will continue to tumble down the standings - 8th in the constructors seems a real possibility to me.

Anytime there's a change to the cars, it sticks out to me. After a race or two, it all kind of blends in for me though. I'm expecting the same for the halos.

I was holding out hope for Mclaren, but their reliability issues at testing were a bit troubling. It'll be interesting to see how Alonso juggles two full racing series this year.

I definitely see Williams as a backmarker now, which is really a shame for such a storied team. I watched the Williams documentary on netflix during the off-season that had given me a lot more appreciation for the history of the team.

As for my dear Ferrari, I'm just hoping to see some progress this season. If they end up stuck in a third position in the constructors, I'll be really bummed.
