So I am just looking for some recommendations for female MC action anime. Anime that I've seen that I enjoy are like DBZ, Freezing, Queen's Blade, My Hero Academia, Bleach(for awhile), Fate/Stay series, Claymore, Naruto, Attack on Titan, Darker than Black, Food Wars(which I need to work on getting current on)

I would like to find one where everything that the woman does isn't directly related to the male character. Doesn't have to be a certain genre, but kind of looking for action or maybe comedy. Thanks in advance

A Certain Scientific Railgun. Just finished S1 not that long ago myself. Pretty freaking great, and just what you've asked for.

Sabagebu! - It's a action comedy about a group of girls playing air-soft together.
http://www.crunchyroll.com/sabagebu-survival-game-club-

Keijo!!!!!!!! - It's basically a battle shounen where girls fight with their butts and boobs, it's not bad.
http://www.crunchyroll.com/keijo

Oshiete! Galko-chan - Comedy anime surrounding a 3 girls and their classmates. It's really silly and sexual in it's jokes/subject matter (Though if you read the manga it tones down after the first volume, which the anime adapts along with the second volume) and does a pretty good job in it's characterization. I really recommend this one and if you end up not liking it you won't waste too much of your time since the episodes are only 7-8 minutes long.

Slayers - Classic action comedy about a hot headed sorceress, a dimwitted swordsman, and a few other colorful characters. ( The anime goes in this order: Slayers, Slayers Again, Slayers Try, Slayers Revolution, Slayers Revolution-R. Crunchyroll has both Slayers Revolution and Revolution-R. Funimation has all of em)
https://www.funimation.com/shows/the-slayers/

Watamote - Comedy, It can hurt to watch this since it pokes fun at that awkward, angsty, cringy teenage stage riddled with social anxiety and isolation that a lot of people apparently go through by putting the MC in situations that really exemplify those things.

For action I would say... Senran Kagura and Ikki Tousen(both full of fanservice however, and one has a meaningful story but the other does not.) but for comedy I would say Ranma 1/2 (2 of its girls are martial artists, 1 Chinese, 1 Japanese or perhaps 2 Japanese depending on if the main character is a boy or a girl at any given moment )

-Princess Principal
It's a bit more cutsy than some of the ones on your list. But it has some neat characters, spy stuff and action. It also has this cool steam-punk vibe going on. All of the main characters are girls. Practically no males of interest in the show.

-Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid
If you haven't heard of this one you might be under a rock. This one is your comedy pick. You'll laugh. You'll feel good. You'll think it's crazy. You'll laugh some more.

-Tokyo ESP
There's this school of fish that most people don't see and they give people powers. Also there's a flying penguin as well. This ones more along the lines of a Shonen style show, but our protagonist is female. There's some guys, some gals, a bunch of people using some neat supper powers. A nice father daughter relationship. Check it out.

-Chihayafuru
It's a Shojo anime/manga. It's about a girl, Chihaya, who learns how to play Karuta as a girl and becomes obsessed with it, starting up a competitive Karuta when she's in highschool. Chihaya's nickname is "beauty in vain" because she's a beautiful as her model sister, but she doesn't act like it. She has a crazy single mindedness (reminiscent of some shonen heroes) towards Karuta. This anime stands out for it's beautiful story, romantic feeling (which Chihaya is completely oblivious to), beautiful music and some amazing poetry. This is an example of a sports anime where you aren't really interested in the sport at first, but it's all so nice that the characters carry it and eventually you do care a bit about it, because they do so much.

-Battle Doll Angelic Layer
This one is done by Clamp. If you liked Card Captor Sakura or any of their other stuff, give this one a try.

-Symphogear

... I'll stop for now or I'll just keep on going forever...

If you're a fan of D&D or that sort of fantasy type setting, definitely check this one out. It's a classic, but a goody. Bunch of action, and a ton of comedy.

A lot of what has already been said is pretty good, but I'll add...

Symphogear - A non-traditional magical girl show about... well.. I can ony describe it as fighting, mechanized songstresses. The tagline for the second season is "Believe in justice and hold a determination to fist", in reference to the Main character, Hibiki's, combat style of bashing foes with her fists.

You could try Izetta the Last Witch as well. More of a combination of fantasy and historically inspired fiction, but it has some action as well.

Noir and the other Bee Train shows might be worth looking into as well.

I made a thread where I asked something similar and got some great responses., but I can't seem to find it now. I guess the feature to view all the threads you made/posted in got busted at some point.

R.O.D. (also known as Read or Die, http://www.crunchyroll.com/rod) focuses around three sisters protecting another lady. The action scenes are pretty cool (I thought), since it's all about their ability to manipulate paper. It can be a little slow at times, though. The prequel OVA is really good, I liked it better than the TV series, actually. Don't think it's available for streaming anywhere, though. Uhh, I'm lazy, so I'll just cut and paste from the RightStuf site.

"Five years have passed since the occurrence of the incident known as the "Human Annihilation Mission." In Japan, a novelist is dealing with writer's block after her friend has gone missing. In Hong Kong, three sisters, masters in the use of paper, run their own detective agency to solve cases that involve books. When these people are brought together, a bond greater than blood is formed - a bond that will be sorely tested by the evil powers intent on taking over the world.

Join Anita, Maggie, Michelle, and Nenene as they travel the globe in order to save the world from the evil mastermind, Mr. Carpenter! Of course, that's if they can find the time to put down the books they're reading..."

Oh wow, you're right! Thanks!

http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-977463/recommendations-for-specific-type-of-show?pg=0

That was the thread I was talking about. There are some shows people posted in there that are worth a look as well. A lot of the older ones tend to be action, comedy, or both. It was how I found Noir.

Actually, thanks for that because it reminded me that there were more I wanted to check out in here.

Kaze no Stigma: The main girl and main guy dance around each other, but both are strong characters.

Snow White with the Red Hair: It's usually the guy reacting to what the woman does here, and it's mostly told from her perspective.

Maria the Virgin Witch: Ignore the name. This is all about the girl; there is a guy, but he's a bumbling, well-meaning, idiot, and clearly the side character.

Maoyu: Focuses mostly on the woman, who is extremely smart and competent. Half the series, the guy is off doing his own thing half-way around the world.

Otome Youkai Zakuro: The girl here is powerful and competent; the guy, not so much. Told from her perspective.
