First, I am very excited to see new titles and updates on the manga app. I have considered canceling my subscription more than a few times because of the lack of content.

Second, has anyone else noticed how many titles jump from chapter one to chapter twenty-five?? I don't know if it's a glitch or what, but it's pretty upsetting when you expect to read a linear story and miss such a huge piece. I have primarily seen it in the new stories. Does anyone know why? Thanks in advance

"Licensing restrictions" probably. Pretty much all the 'new' manga they added recently start somewhere in the second or third 'volume' of the series, instead of at the beginning. I can only assume this is to "encourage", on the part of publishers and distributors, people to buy the first volume, and as such every subsequent volume.

^ What gornotck said.

Sweetness & Lightning is one example for me. I'm currently at chapter 20, but looks like i can't read any further because the next chapters are not there. So i'm going to put it on hold for now, whenever those chapters come back or i'm going to start buying that physically.

At least with Kodansha titles, Crunchyroll is moving more to just having chapters that haven't yet been collected into and published in volumes--which accounts for not having earlier chapters. Having chapter 1 is more of a preview to get you interested (or so you can see if it interests you), but you may need to go elsewhere (e.g. CR's Manga shop on the Android app, or another seller of books/ebooks) to continue. Here are some recent Site News threads regarding this:
