Parliament tends to be the favored system in highly regarded and successful countries and it would appear is less prone to corruption. But don't take my word for it:

Perhaps that is more a sign of the quality and quantity of world news in your media outlets than a sign of anything else. In a typical day UK news will devote half to three quarters of any broadcast to international stories.
