I'm going to buy some manga for the first time; I was thinking the Konosuba manga, but I'd like to know if there are any recommendations that would suit my genre.

- Magic
- SciFi
- Mecha
- School Manga (Like K-On or something like that!)

If you’re up for a little psychological horror mixed in, Evangelion fits the Sci-Fi/Mecha ticket. It’s also pretty timeless, so chances are you’ll be able to find discussions on it years from now. Viz has a really good five book set for it at the moment.

Magic’s kind of an ambiguous word here, but if you mean fantasy magic and not Sailor Moon magic, I’d highly recommend The Ancient Magus Bride’s manga. It’s catching up with the Japanese release pretty fast and portrays magic in a really unique way.

Akira is certified classic manga. If you want something a little easier to jump into, I'd recommend Domu. It's a shorter "novella" style by the same guy. Very good stuff. I would second evangelion as well.

Nausicaa of the Valley of the wind made by a co-founder of studio ghibli. The world it is set in is unique, its a post apocalyptic world slowly being consumed by the sea of Corruption (a poisonous jungle infested with giant insects) i'd recommend you watch the anime first if you haven't before reading the manga the anime is 1/8th of the manga I own the box set the drawing are so detailed ok im geeking out
