Manga Happy Sugar Life is getting an anime adaptation.

Plot Summary

High-schooler Matsuzaka Satou has a reputation for being easy, but one day her lifestyle of sleeping with one boy after another comes to an end. It happens when she meets the child Shio, for whom she is convinced she feels true love for the first time. Satou may seem sweet and innocent, but there is nothing she won't do to protect their life together, including committing murder. But from where did she acquire the little girl, and how long can their "Happy Sugar Life" together last?

Oh my gosh, I voted for this manga in that thing where you could vote for manga adaptations. I thought there were other yuri manga that probably deserved to be adapted more but I loved the premise of this manga so much that I had to vote for it. I'm so glad it's getting an adaptation. (Pure, wholesome yuri anime when tho?)

This just doesn't sound appealing to me at all. I'll probably give it a shot because it's yuri and I'm a huge fan of yuri.. but, yeah, it just doesn't sound like something I'd enjoy. I'm not that desperate to see anything with the "yuri" label.

It's sort of funny because there really are a lot of shows out there that love to play around with yuri elements, and many could certainly already be considered "pure wholesome yuri" except they're usually so deathly afraid of actually being considered yuri or taking the next step that it feels like they almost don't exist. It's actually nice to walk into a Japanese manga shop and see how they actually do make up their yuri sections by including things like Slow Start and New Game as opposed to only including things that just scream "yuri" at the top of their lungs.

Yeah, that's quite true. I was looking at Live Chart yesterday counting the shows this season in which are either DEFINITELY yuri or in which very obviously hinted at yuri like Slow Start and there was 11-13, depending on how discretionary you want to be, that I would consider at least somewhat "yuri", next season even more so if my predictions are correct for some of them. That's pretty interesting that yuri sections in Japan don't distingusih between the subtext and the outright as much as some in the West tend to do. (I guess it's partially because we still have that infernal term shoujo ai. Grrrr, MAL!)

Not sure if you watched it or not, but HIna Logi from a few seasons back is probably one of the best pure girl yuri shows that has aired in a long time.. except you wouldn't even know it was anything more than a typical cute girls slice of life until the last couple of episodes. There was no indication at all it would actually take the next step and because so few similar series do that it was actually sort of shocking.

Since it's on MBS, there's a good chance it's on Animeism, which would mean it's property of Amazon.

While there is always an exception to every rule (i.e., Pupa), shorts are typically for comedies or sometimes slice of life.

Well, they do a pretty decent job of developing atmosphere in the PV but I could really do without the love interest being yet another super loli. Hopefully there's enough going on outside of that to keep it worth watching but let's just say that my interest level has not been raised.

HanaKana playing a pink haired yandere should be fun. Although I can't help but hear Hina and Momo from 3-gatsu no Lion, so that'll probably make this relationship a little more awkward on top of the huge age gap...

Those eyes though.
