Do you have a VPN turned on on your phone, maybe? I went to the games section, then put the title in Android.

I am quite saddened to hear about this games censorship and removal of a basic feature from the Japanese version. Found out about it from the community team over on reddit. This definitely makes me want to uninstall and for certain not spend any money on the game. I'm very glad I didn't end up buying the starter pack now that I found out this information.

That's like saying, "I love this game's play, feel, the clips from the series and hearing the voice actors. But I learned there was a chance I could have poked the female characters for like 10 minutes total before it got boring. So now I hate this game."

Not quite. I liked the game, but I don't like supporting censorship of any type. Especially censorship made for no reasons.

"We censored the game, but it's totally not censorship! It's just because one of the localizers is easily offended!" You already have a laundry list of problems with your service, Crunchy. Did you really need to add censorship too?

I was looking forward to this game, but now that I found out about this censorship, I have to skip it.
I don't want to support any kind of censorship (it could have been any kind of alteration or removal of content, not just this "touching" feature).
Didn't expect this. Very saddening start for crunchyrolls game division.

And why the people like you force me not to poke female characters in a game? Why cut content? Why censor? Unacceptable.

Yeah, when I read a book censored by the Party in my communist country of old, before 1989, I also thought "meh, it's just a few passages, after 10 minutes I would read over them, no big deal".

Why the hell am i not surprised about this?

Next time, how about you arrogant yanks include that it won't be released in Europe so we don't sign up for your stupid-ass preorder where you conveniently leave out the info that it'll only be available in the states.

AMERICA IS NOT A PLANET.

Educate your fucking citizens...

The more I think about this, the angrier it makes me.

1. "Not appropriate for English audiences"? Are you saying that the language we speak determines the level of sexual content we can handle?
2. I have played SEVERAL games where I can fondle girls' boobs. They were all brought to the West uncensored. What makes this game different?
3. Did the localizers even watch the show? This is very much in line with the series.
4. What is even the motivation here? Who are you trying to please? Typically games only get censored so they can be marketed to children. But...this is a gacha game, is it not? You're basically admitting that your goal is to prey on children with your gambling simulator. That is disgusting.
5. We were told by the dev team that this game wouldn't be censored. http://archive.is/Y7jCv So yeah, have fun with the potential class-action lawsuit.

I'm done. I'm not giving Crunchyroll another cent after this month. I have enough problems with the core streaming service as it is. But now you're actively lying to your customers and censoring games.

Agreed. The explanation is rather insulting: "due to what is appropriate and not appropriate for English audiences" (apparently the target audience, whom I'd presume are fans of anime in general, wouldn't feel comfortable with the contents of this game).

This also puts that earlier statement of nothing being censored into a very bad light. Does this mean that whatever games might come next will also have things, that are featured in the trailer, removed?

I really wanted to play this game (although it's not available yet where I live), but this, and the responses to our critiques on the matter are very disheartening.

I have honestly liked the game! One wonders if it will continue to be updated to catch the light novels much of dialogue seems ripped directly from the anime as a source material same with most of the visuals so far. Some of the indirect side stories feel new. The Current leveling system WORKS well for tiers. I HOPE this is not changed in a future unannounced update! It would change the rating of the game completely!

Since I doubt any Crunchyroll staff will bother to come forward in this topic. I suggest everyone use this form to complain about the censorship.

In the environment of the U.S. "Me Too" movement, and a growing discontent with men preying on females without consequence, this was the only rational option.

Or would you prefer Crunchyroll immediately get targeted in the media, for all anime to get conflated with porn (again), and potentially shutting the site down hastening its transformation to VRV?

EDIT: Point 2, while there are a very few games brought to the West with "touch" options, companies can hide behind ESRB ratings, and layer responsibility behind stores that sold the item. Mobile games have no real marker anybody takes seriously, and kids can easily circumvent most attempts to control content -- if their parents even know how to limit it in the first place.

Point 3: The UK just had a major media frenzy over a touch game that "sexualized young girls" and "normalized molestation," leading to bans.
