Boo. Is it available anywhere other than Funimation? I signed up but couldn't get their stupid "Brightcove Media Player" to work. It's some serious garbage.

The new season is available on Hulu, but Hulu with no ads costs twice as much. $12 a month. But at least I can watch stuff at Hulu - their videos actually work.

Anywhere else that's cheaper?

Just watched it on Hulu. I felt like it was a short episode. I had to refresh my memory because it's been a while but I'm eagerly awaiting the second episode. Also loved the music included in this first episode and hoping that someone can tell me what songs they used besides the opening and ending.

Episode 2

The battle between Haise and Orochi continues, and Orochi happens to be Nishio, who was one of Kaneki's friends in the original series. And then it is revealed that Haise is Kaneki as he's trying so hard to bury his past as Kaneki to live with his new family in the Quinx squad. After what happened, Urie is removed as the captain and replaced by Shirazu. And then Toka is back as Haise and friends go visit her at the coffee shop to have some of that coffee that was made at Anteiku. So after that cop drama in the first episode, this one gets back to being the psychological mindbreaker that this show does so well.

Ah, the most obvious thing was revealed about Sasaki.

Anyways, it was kinda neat seeing Touka again even though it was just for a few moments. I honestly miss her from the previous seasons. Saiko's debut was nothing short than a comic relief lul. I expected it since her personality fits as such

I'm still going to keep expectations low but the latest episode is better than the first one.

Well, you can't see through Crunchyroll. Only Funimation and Hulu (and a week later for free on Yahoo View). Unfortunately, from the look of things the original terms of the deal that predates the partnership took precedence leaving Crunchyroll out of this.

You can see it on CR if you are in certain parts of the world. Only the states can't see it because it is licensed in the states by Funi.

The series is on Crunchyroll for those of us living in the UK (and Ireland). A UK Anime distributor (Anime Limited) licensed the series

I did see it from Crunchyroll since I'm in the UK.

Oh I remember that tear from the manga, that was a great episode. To see the new Tohka, she's so beautiful in :re.

Can't get enough of the OP. I love Kaneki's white hair now that is been animated. Dam the fight between Kaneki and Nishima was rowdy. The memories are flooding back. Can someone explain why Kaneki is suppressing his old memories never understood that in the manga. Also Investigator Mado has matured well xD

They just keep pumping out more characters don't they? The core story they're trying to spell out is still a mystery, there's a lot of hints being dropped, but the main part of the story and seems to be the the slowest plot element getting the least screen time devoted to plot progression. The addition of Touka was nice, I just hope it's not short lived or a minor cameo type of thing. Though to be honest she turned out to be more of a side character toward the end of the previous seasons. Totally saw the tear coming from the coffee shop part, great scene. Saiko is...quite a character. Very unique character that contrasts the generic slapstick one-liner despite her appearances. I still haven't found any characters that I really like so far.

As for pacing I'll state the obvious. They're still going to fast, but the addition of the flashbacks to explain previous events hurts the flow of the story badly. On top of this the incessant inner monologue thing a few characters have going on breaks the scene flow with the infamous "4 panel manga feel in anime", as I call it. Sometimes it works, but as with this one sometimes it overly complicates things and makes it feel like an autistic mess that you spend more time putting together rather than simply enjoying. I'm not watching this to solve some sort of puzzle of series of events, I just want to enjoy a good story. The story is starting to come together. The way they're splitting up the story into the good guy vs bad guy factions though, it's gonna take forever to get to a major plot event. At the current pace I'd expect nothing but minor events til around like episode 6.

Lastly I laughed at some of the character designs. When Koro-sensei appeared I chuckled, but when Sasuke appeared I was laughing pretty hard.

Liked seeing Touka in the second episode of this season. Still trying to find out what music they are using. So far no luck.

haise and kaneki would be better off as two seperate charachters. not just Kaneki having an alternate mind, but its good either way
