Is it just me or does the animation really blow? I don't mean the little things like movements and hair flowing, I mean the entire sequence of animation. As I compared it to some other show, it feels like a turn-based RPG with absolutely no heart to it. To put it harshly, it feels like a 8 year old did the battle scenes.

As for the story, we still have everyone zooming about town with little focus on specific characters. I'll admit they paint a good picture of the state of war between the ghouls and humans, but as a whole I'm not yet convinced this is going to be a good story. I definitely remember Tokyo Ghoul as having a lot of heart and a heavy emotional tone that makes this show feel like something not at all connected. The characters sure are good as ever, but getting rewarded so often with new characters just makes for good characters with no backstory. Empty. The setting and world building are nice and all, but I can't connect to the show one bit. As you can tell, I haven't been enjoying this one.

RE is a bit more spread out than TG. It doesn't have the same hyper focus on Kaneki. But the anime is definitely making it worse by sprinting through the material and cutting out the little bits that help flesh out the characters.

I agree there are just too many characters. I watched the first two seasons when they came out, but I haven't read the manga and I tend to forget things. What I am enjoying this season is following "Sasaki" and his crew.

Episode 5

And the chaos continues inside the auction house as the Nutcracker attacks, all while Sasaki continues to fight Shu, and Matsumae appears to take him away as a kagune trap was set up. Mutsuki is sent away with Urie escorting him out, and Sasaki engages with the Nutcracker herself as she is now an S-rated threat. And then while the rest of the squad retreats, Sasaki is battling an SS ranked ghoul, who also is a half-ghoul. Lots of action here as things just aren't looking good for the investigators with the way the battle has been going.

Damn, this face.

Not going to lie, I think the action was awkward this week. It's too dark and some of the movements felt strange at places. Sasaki is also taking on another tough opponent so it won't be an easy fight.

So it's been confirmed that Tokyo Ghoul will have 24 episodes, if that was the case iunno why they were rushing everything unless they want try to fit more arcs in. I mean people keep ragging on the animations but i mean its not that bad maybe cuz im a normie hahaha. The minute nutcracker stepped on that CCG nuts, I felt it through my screen, looked painful.

Yeah I'm done here. There are no signs of improvement and they can't keep a straight camera angle for more than 5 seconds it seems. The part that nailed it in the coffin for me was Saiko having zero lines despite running around the entire episode. A lot of characters seem to have no relevance, Touka literally made a cameo.

I'll say one good thing came out of all this. I'm gonna finally pick up the manga for the original after being indecisive about getting it. The soundtrack and animation really bother me, so I think the manga might be a better choice for my tastes. I also think censoring has been getting in the way of animation, this episode especially was splattering blood everywhere but avoiding showing or even censoring the gore.

Has anyone been reading the manga for TG:re? And what are your thoughts? Very surprised to see a high rating on MAL.

The manga is so much better than the series in my opinion, the series has already missed some important things out, so reading the manga might be more beneficial.

Episode 6

Things got even more chaotic there as Urie gets wrecked, and Mutsuki unleashes his kagune. They did manage to take out Nutcracker and Mama after some clever traps, but it came at a great cost. Shirazu really took out out on the Neutcracker, while Juzo showed his mama how much he both appreciates and despises her. In the meantime, more identity crisis problems for Sasaki as is getting beaten to a pulp by Takizawa, but just when he was about to be a goner, it's Hinami to the rescue as this cute little girl has grown up to be a capable fighter. That was simply madness there, and the return of Hinami was the best part of all this to help Sasaki get through this latest psychological mess he has gotten himself into as Sasaki would turn the tables on Takizawa after that. Next time, it's going into the past to fill in the time skip.

Wow, I heard Unravel at the end. That's the best song of this franchise!

Felt like the action was a bit all over the place this week but the Sasaki fight was quite a sight to see .Also, it's about time we to got to see some Saiko using her abilities. I don't feel much about Big Mama or the other sadist ghoul that died. They didn't get me invested enough with theri characters.

This episode was worth just for unravel playing in the background, but it was nice to see Hina more matured and Juuzo's squad doing work on Mama. Shit is about to go down next episode.

Episode 7

After meeting for the first time in two years, Hinami is back with Kaneki. After the operation, everybody in the unit gets promoted along with a lot of their other CCG comrades as Sasaki is now a senior investigator. While that is happening, Hinami is being questioned over her involvement Kureo's death. To celebrate, they invite Akira and Arima over for dinner prepared by Sasaki and are given presents. Pretty much, this is a chill episode after all the chaos in the last two episodes as things are transitioning. In the meantime, Sasaki is still soul searching and finds out that the building Anteiku used to be had been torn down, and Shu is on the attack.
