The first episode is now up: http://www.crunchyroll.com/comic-girls/episode-1-i-got-the-worst-results-on-the-survey-768621

Episode 1

And so it begins with Kaos-sensei at the bottom, and to learn how to become a better mangaka, she's living with other aspiring mangakas. She becomes roomamtes with Koyume, and Kaos becomes inspired by her drawing of girls, but guys are a different matter entirely. Koyume pretty much is destined to be a great yuri mangaka. And then comes the other two mangakas-in-training in Tsubasa, who specializes in shonen stuff, and Ruki who draws ecchi, something she's too embarrassed to admit as she doesn't like her pen name Big Boobies Himeko-chan. Pretty amusing stuff so far as those girls sure have different styles. And seeing it all coming together leads to some awkward moments. There's no question that these girls are into their manga, but their skill levels couldn't be any more different.

I think this was a good start so far.

Cute girls doing manga things. I have been reading the manga and ironically, this series is about cute girls drawing manga. The main cast so far seems to consist of diverse personalities too. What I really like the show so far is the character chemistry though.

Not sure how I fee labotu Kaos yet since she is a bit too shy compared to the others but I think she'll adapt. The art style looks good in terms of quality. We'll probably get the theme songs next time, for OP and ED.

Episode 1

The first off episode starts off with Kaoruko getting bad news from her editor on the fan mail she received and her manga was not received that good. In order for her to get better she recommends she going to a dormitory where other manga artist live. There she meets Koyume who is good at drawing girls but bad at drawing boys. They also meet other artist like Tsubasa and Ruki. We can't forget the dorm manager Ririka. We get a funny moment when the girls go over to Tsubasa and Ruki's room to see how a pro's room looks like and to see if Ruki has anything dirty to use as material, but thing is she is ashamed of her pen name big boobies Himeko. This show has a lot of funny things but it's mostly like last seasons Slow Start. However it does remind me of that one anime where the girls made games so we could get something like that? Anyways not a bad start will give it another 2 before i decide to keep watching or not.

At the moment for me this is just a manga themed CGDCT show. It might become more if they actually develop the characters a bit more beyond just being cute and make the story about their manga aspirations really interesting to follow. Otherwise I'll quit as I can take only a certain amount of overly cute fluffiness before I feel like I'm suffering from sugar overload.

This was one of the few shows this season I was actually looking forward to, but the first episode just felt really all over the place. There were some really fun moments and there's some potential here but for every bright moment there was one I couldn't help but groan and shake my head at. Hopefully this one finds it's legs sooner than later.

That was ridiculously cute and funny. Maybe this will be a show to fill a bit of the New Game void that I am missing right now.

It reminds me a bit of Slow Start mixed with Hinako Note and a wee bit of Konohana Kitan.

I also like how all the girls so far have their own quirks and faults when drawing. I look forward to see how they grow together both in their lives and their craft. I really liked how it had a nice detailed segment of them working on Tsubasa's manga. That was really cool. I also really like their house. It's really nice.

Sure, why not!

I don't mind cute manga girls doing their thing by making good manga and being friends! I'll take this one too!

I really like Tsubasa. The "she's cool, like a guy" trope isn't used very often in these sorts of series. The other characters are okay so far though I can feel Moeta is going to get on my nerves with her constant, constant self-doubt and self-loathing and just so, so down on herself to the point she belongs in therapy, not a half-way house for mangaka.

I'll give this one the three episode try but if she doesn't start developing some serious "ganbatte" during that time I'm not sure I'll be able to hang in there.

Hmm. Not the first show we have had about cute girls doing manga things (q.v. Mangirl, among others), but this one seems to have the cleanest animation and character design of the lot. Reminds me a bit of New Game!, and that is a good thing. Will stick with it.

Whaaaa? A whole page of comments and only one mentions the animation? This looked amazing the art was so different and detailed with those vibrant colors and it was consistent throughout the whole episode with no corner cutting, and those backgrounds were gorgeous! Even if I didn't like the girls I'd watch this just for the animation, CGDCT shows usually looks nice but this is just a cut above the rest. However I DID like the girls they are all kawaii (well Tsubassa is more cool, but she also looked kawaii when she laid down and her hair fell back) and I love artistic girls (it's like Hidamari Sketch) oh and bonus an oneesan manager, my favorite was Rukki even if she is an A cup.

Yeah, the production quality really is quite good for a show in this genre. I have seen a lot of CGDCT and slice of life shows where they really cut massive corners, particularly with the animation and this show hasn't done that. The character's movements are quite nuanced and dynamic. The scene at the end where it's crunch time and the tomboy girl transforms into one of her characters was particularly well animated.

Off to a good start.

I love that they tried to find lewd stuff all over the room once they connected the dots.

I guess it wouldn't be a season without some CGDCT, eh?
