![]() Synopsis: There's money buried in the grounds. Bonda Natsunosuke (26, single), is a left-handed relief pitcher for the professional baseball team, the Jingu Spiders. He became a pro right after high school and now in his 8th year makes 18 million yen a year, and is not what you'd call a "first rate player." "I don't know how many years I've got left to play after 30." "Only a few can become coaches or commentators after they retire." "After some players retire, there are people who end up in a slump having to make a living around 1,000,000 yen a year." "Pro baseball players need to make their money while before they retire!" Despite the harsh realities, Bonda always repeats the same phrase: "There's money buried in the grounds." Bonda goes up to the mound yet again today. Yes, seeing dreams of money in those grounds, "Gurazeni!" Other Information Type: TV Episodes: Unknown Status: Currently Airing Aired: April 6, 2018 to ? It was okay. A show about baseball although the MC so far doesn't have my interest yet. The OP song does though with that style (especially the sequence with the money lol)
Seems this show will contain a lot of competition although I see it more as a lighthearted way. The baseball gimmick for the players seems like it can work well for this show. Felt like the series has some potential. The animation quality is so-so. |

Yeah, I think this'll be a pass for me. I am a fan of baseball but this first episode was really weak and the animation wasn't good.

Not my cup of tea, I guess I'll give it another week to get off its knees.

Man that’s some crazy efficiency to get through 4 2/3 innings allowing 4 runs and only throwing 49 pitches. Or some crazy aggressive hitters. I do like the concept tho with a middle relief/specialist guy and not being all blood, sweat, tears and friendship like a lot of sports shows. The first episode did not do much for me but I’ll stick around for a bit.

Bonda's jersey number 39 can be read as three nine: San Kyuu. Which sounds like 'Thank you' in Japanese.

Even though the pacing was a little too slow for my liking and most of the baseball terminology flew over my head, I enjoyed the first episode. I find Natsunosuke a pretty likable protagonist, so I'm gonna keep watching to see if anything else hooks me. If not, I'll just drop it and move on.

Bonda's insights are so specific I can't help but help be entertained by his worldly view. Good thing all baseball players don't think that way. An amusing behind-the-scenes story – hope it stays this specific, and not get all generic to appease non-baseball fans.

Episode 1
Pretty interesting concept having an anime look at the financial aspect of pro baseball. That said, this show just wasn't my cup of tea as the animation quality is terrible, and I just wasn't getting into this show. So this will be the first drop of the season. |

This show is actually interesting to me
Becuase I kinda follow Major League Baseball and notice the trades and how much a player makes and how other stays in the minor league and how some goes back to the minor league. Since the US MLB teams has been getting Japanese pitchers from all over Japan and some are bought out from their contract which is quiet expensive and that got me interested in Ohtani. Ohtani is a younger 23 years old lefty pitcher that can hit .He pitched for his HS winning the Koshein and became a first round draft pick after graduating HS, At. first he wanted to go to MLB but after negotiation with Nippon Fighters , he stayed for 5 years and then pursued his dream and now he is an Angel. ![]() Its was a fun show for me, I was cracking up from his commentary... but I wonder how the story develops ![]() |

Gurazeni truly is funny for the baseball fan. Such psychological twists that can throw a game.
The OP ("Merigo" by Cypress Ueno to Robert Yoshino ft. Sky-Hi) is a good one, too. |
