are we really complaining that they removed something pointless from the game? I mean it's a memory hog as it is

It's more of a feature that was marketed as included through their advertisement then later removed in the official release, if they have given proper notice then those complaining wouldn't have invested into the game.

and Warcraft said they would include aireal dogfights, a dance studio and Path of the Titans in some of their expansions and never did.

Stuff gets cut, I fail to see what the big deal is

Except that was cut because of monetary or system reasons that they couldn't make work, in this case they removed a 100% working system because someone on the production team or someone they have a business/personal relationship with was upset over this feature. The reddit replies are telling when they say its because of 'cultural sensibilities' and not because of any real mechanical need.

This isn't isolated to CR games, its a disease thats been a part of CR for a long time. I know they are able to get uncensored airings of anime, they just don't WANT to. There is an infection in this company that needs to be cured before they finish killing the company. Many people including myself went back to pirating because of CRs poor decisions.

I'm cancelling my premium subscription next month over the censorship here. Wonder who else did that too.

Though the lack of a touching system saddens me because I can't harass Ais/Anya i'm not gonna overreact like half of these kids.

Games enjoyable tbh.

This, it was freaking advertised before they removed it. Don't expect people to not bitch and moan over something when you ADVERTISE IT TO THEM only to take it away thinking no one is gonna notice. I honestly might cancel my subscription over this...maybe.

The all too fictional boogie man of someone getting offended by this when THE VERY PEOPLE YOU'RE TRYING TO NOT OFFEND...would never give this type of game or anything the time of day. Yet we have to make sure their protected so they give us their money even tho they were never gonna play the game in the first place...GENIUS!

This makes me glad I haven't spent a dime on this game, though I in general don't pay for gacha rolls in the first place.

I would be ashamed if the gaming communities that I'm in overreacted as hard as this.

Censorship during localization is nothing new. A lot of stuff that is localized by relatively large western companies end up being sanitized. Imagine if someone got a hold of the game uncensored and wrote a scathing article about how the game (and company) are promoting misogyny and discrimination. That would throw the company's reputation down the gutter, no matter how sensationalized the article is. That kind of negative PR is much worse than the negative PR generated by censoring the game.

It's not just the USA that does that. The Japanese do it as well. When Yostar localized Azur Lane for Japan, they censored depictions of the atomic bomb. The heavy cruiser Indianapolis sits on an atomic bomb in the Chinese version of the game, but in the Japanese version the atomic bomb symbol is removed. There is also a furniture set that has the atomic bomb, but that is replaced by something else in the Japanese version of the game.

I know that the removal of an anticipated game feature is disappointing, but censorship of games by region is something that happens all the time in the game industry.

Tell me, how is being able to tap any character's picture in this game, be they male or female, for a small reaction and a line of dialogue possibly misogynistic or discriminatory?

There is also a big difference between slightly altering a tiny image to be a bit respectful towards a culture over completely removing an aspect of a game. You have not seen me complain any about Senran Kagura removing the ages from the girls' profiles, have you? No, because that is a very minor piece of info that allows the game to be published and doesn't remove anything from the game. Scrubbing over an atomic bomb symbol out of respect in a nation where two atomic bombs were dropped on civilian cities doesn't remove anything from the game. Danmemo is rated T for Teen, and the tapping feature would not have escalated that rating. It's not like it's the Touchy Feely mode in Senran Kagura or something.

Serious question: Are you mentally daft? Calling something where you tap the location of a cartoon character of either gender on your phone's screen to get a small reaction and a voice line a "virtual sexual assault function"? But hey, you're in Canada, where just using the wrong freaking pronoun can get you in legal trouble, so you must be brainwashed into accepting censorship and progressive nonsense. I can't be too surprised that you're foolish enough to consider it a "virtual sexual assault function"... My gosh, it just sounds so stupid every time I think it...

Let me rephrase then

we are talking about a function to allow simulated sexual touching in a game that my 6 year old nephew could get his hands on.

is that a better perspective for you?

There is no simulated sexual touching. You tap a portrait of the character, be it on their face, arm, stomach, chest, etc, and be they male or female, they will move slightly and say a voice line. If you think the only way to touch someone is sexually, then that's on you...

Also, if your 6 year old nephew is allowed to play a Teen game through services that require being 13 years old to legally use, sounds more like a parent/guardian failure on whoever watches the kid. A company isn't responsible for what parents let kids consume. Don't just hand a 6 year old a freaking iPad and let them do whatever on it...

If it's such a minor thing why does it matter that it's been removed?

The point of the game is a dungeon crawler right?
