Thank you for your insightful take on episode 1.

This was a roundabout reintroduction to GGO with the "explain the world to the MC so the audience understands" trope going on. A bit heavy on the talking but has potential presuming they don't do that every time.

For those who didn't watch SAO's Gun Gale Online arc, players have lots of freedom in how they develop their characters. Some people make overall fighters good at everything, some focus on mastery of particular weapons, and others focus on their avatar's physical abilities.

LLENN looks to have put almost everything into speed, and is using a small machine gun at close to mid range to compensate for not having as much sharpshooting ability. Send enough bullets out and you'll hit something.

Yuck. As expected, there isn't much to like about this one. The art is fine and characters seem to have potential, but apart from that there was no one thing I liked about the show. The soundtrack was just generic SAO reject beats and the action feels kind of empty without a hook, not that I want yet another play or we all die plot mechanism. I was expecting more from the animation as well.

I get the feeling this is going to be a mandatory binge if, and that's a big if, somehow this show gets it together. I don't like the idea behind a story along the lines of "CoD the anime", if the supposed climax is going to give you a feel like you've fallen into a game of Yu Gi Oh where the plot can only progress if the MC wins. To clarify, this has all the signs of a heavy investment story that pays off much later.

I really do not understand why or how they bothered making this a spinoff when there's nothing SAO in it. Would it really have been hard to make this it's own story in it's own franchise? Seems to me they're just borrowing the name to get people to watch. The Phantom Bullet arc in SAO was kind of meh for me, I barely did enjoy it even though Sinon was pretty awesome. I'll check back at the end of the season, probably with the expectation that at least one of the characters will be very popular on their own. For now, I'm bailing on this one.

I wonder if the pink is a trade off for the speed, then again she covered it up with the poncho so I doubt it. the briefcase part certainly reminded me of the solid snake box thing lol. I do wonder what her weakness will be. She did trip once in the forest which makes me thing she can't run super fast in that type of environment. She also probably doesn't have much health if I had to guess.

OMG I love the MC in Gun Gale... bother versions LLENN and Karen. Plus she uses pretty much my favorite gun in any FPS since my days of playing Counter-Strike up though BF3. The P90 is a classic.

I liked both the OP and the ED. The sound was a little off at times though. That could just be the stream though.

Hater gonna hate and potatoes are gonna potate. I was pleasantly surprised by this and I look forward to just a nice good dumb fun action show.

She's using an FN-P90 ( that first person view of it was a Counter-Strike reference as well ) which she has given the cringe worthy name of "P-chan" to. While I'm not going to go "omfg moeshit" on the show you have to admit her character design and presentation as a Cute Girl Doing A Cute Thing naivety is kinda cringey given the setting.

The only real questions remain are,

1. Is there to be a dub?
2. Where/when?

I can only imagine Toonami, but time shall tell...

Thus far its better then the actual SAO series, but that's not really saying much. I suspect that the first episode was just really to show off some action and get people hyped for the show. That's fine and all, but the main character has no real personality thus far. Some of the actions she made during this episode just made no sense either. Why was she so timid about PvPing when she is so powerful? That just made no sense to me. I also really hope she isn't another power fantasy character; that would just make the show boring.

I love the sound the P90 makes in just about every game. My favorite weapon in all shooter games is the G-18 though. At least they have the gun part down and seem to have extensive knowledge in that field. So many other shows would just BS their way past that.

I always like the run and gun, plus hipfire potential of the P90. Admittedly I am not the best shot. Plus I get antsy and can't stay in one spot for too long. I'm that guy that will rush a point over and over again until I can help take it haha.

There was a azur lane and world of warships collab as well as a bunch of other moe promotions, there also has been plenty of guns/military and moe already. It is just not as popular here. It is a moe cliche with things like azur lane, kantai collection, girls und panzer. Those are just the ones I know from seeing them around so much. It is a super popular trend right now. military moe is a genre for sure. This trend has been going on for a long time. Even in very recent times there is Nekomiya Hinata.

I remember when the P90 was first added to Counter-Strike.

I am old.

That collab was not well received by the community as I recall. The west doesn't do military moe. However, those shows tend to be Cute Girls Doing Cute Things. In this case we have only one Cute Girl Doing A Cute Thing in the entire show and it's a show that otherwise has a gritty setting to it. With the added irritant of her not only being the CGDCT but also being the naive protagonist of that genre in having to ask needlessly incessant questions in order to explain the hobby to the viewer.
