I definitely enjoyed this, though the end of the episode was downright dumb. Up until the final bit the MC was fairly intelligent and rational, even figures out that his world isn't what it seems, and when all hell breaks loose what happens, he calls the guy that saves from whatever they were a murderer. Why? I guess for the usual cliché MC reasons.

No idea what is happening. MC sees a fight and just walks away, no questions asked?? I wonder what all the psychology books have to do with the song. Is the MC trying to break the barrier from the De ja vu? Alot of questions, im pre lost ahahha. But I like the ED though

The thing that confused me with the fight scene is that when Ritsu plays the song, everyone stops and stares at him, and then immediately people start running at... Shogo? I'd think people would start swarming Ritsu given their reactions.

Okay, I really enjoyed this first episode. I am excited to see where this show will take me. Sure, it was really confusing. But I am willing to give it the benefit of the doubt and believe that it is taking me somewhere great. Hopefully it does not disappoint.

Hmm. Basically Megazone 23 for the 2010s, but minus the transforming motorcycle (... and the random sex scenes).

Episode 2

Ritsu and company manage to get away thanks to Shogo, and Aria has come out to enlist his help as something is wrong with Mu. But after hearing it from Marie that nothing out of the ordinary happened, it's pretty clear that Ritsu's mind is so messed up. Seeing scrambled faces and hearing distorted voices pretty much means something is messing with his mind, and Ritsu is looking for answers. He's starting to connect the dots there with Mu's songs causing people to transform. Lots of interesting drama and mystery going on here as it's clear that everybody in this circle of friends is living in a fake world.

I'm guessing this show is like a character study for the MC and how the concepts will affect him in the story.

Eh, the story itself feels confusing still and I wish I can get more invested into the characters. I will admit though, Aria is cute and I'm starting to like the music more now.

Definitely hooked into this one, to the point where I'm really tempted to pick the game up as well. I can't wait to see where things go next as we start getting into further exploration of this world.

Episode 2

Last week Ritsu realized something was wrong and monster started attacking students. Fearing for their safety he grabs Marie and together run away from the monsters until Shougo helps them out. It seems that to Ritsu they are being attacked but too Marie everything is normal. Well Shougo tries to explain so when he can't Aria shows up and tells Ritsu that she was the one telling him to save μ. The rest of the episode is spent with Ritsu, Suzuna, Kotarou and Mifue trying to understand whats going on? Ritsu even has a little experiment with his friends by playing μ song and that they transform when hearing it. Lucky for him Shougo came to his rescue again. Ritsu, Suzuna, Kotarou and Mifue try to leave the city but can't because μ has made any other city in Mobius.

We hardly got that much information in this episode so we have to wait till next week for all this characters to get an explanation from Aria. From the looks of it it seems that μ is being used since at the end she didn't show any dangerous intention. It could be that bandmates she's with could be using her music to control Mobius? Like i said no info so these are just theories i came up with. The third episode should give us more info on whats going on so until than guessing is we can do.

I suppose they called it Caligula as he too went from being well liked to an insane and hated madman, who thought he could shape the world to his will as he was a god. Perhaps we should remember how that ends. But so far I'm enjoying this. I like that even with all the evidence of how something is obviously existentially wrong they all still try to react in very conventional ways. First time, sure some of their fellow students could have been aliens, but the second time? With all those blurred heads? Naturally, the answer is to try to get to the next town over, because the world is sure to be different there. Well, there was no next town over...

Definitely. I quite enjoy the way everyone who is "awake" is reacting to the situation they've found themselves in. It, for the most part, feels fairly real and I like that no one seems to have instantly found out the "answer" which is often what happens in this sort of material. Even the smartest guy in the room is just stuck thinking he may just be the only one going crazy.

Can't say I get the Caligula connection, but then at the moment I'm just struggling to make any sense of the events so far.

I'm enjoying the set up

I'm just here for the unicorns.

And they're here (2/3 of them). And they're perfect and amazing.

Main character is gorgeous. I love that flower on his tie.

Apparently the title, "The Caligula Effect", refers to wanting something more after it's denied to you. So, like, they never valued their freedom from this world much, but when they realize it's actually being denied to them, now they start to want it. (Like he says that he doesn't know what happiness really is, but he'd say his normal life makes him happy, and the other girl with her mother...)

Also, of the real producers doing music for one of the producer characters, I think one of them worked on tsukiuta, too?
