First episode is now up: http://www.crunchyroll.com/golden-kamuy/episode-1-wenkamuy-769171

From the look of things, this is uncensored on Crunchyroll.

Episode 1

This show doesn't waste any time getting bloody. So it begins with Sugimoto finding a dead corpse of a man whose body is tattooed by some greedy bastards who weren't about to share any of their treasure with him. Then he gets attacked by a bear (CG-animated, no less), and Asirpa comes to the rescue. They get attacked by another bear, and this time Sugimoto kills it after Asirpa and her wolf buddy help point out his weak spot. As it turns out, Asirpa's parents were killed while transporting gold. So far, this show is delivering on the hype it has been getting going to show just how much of a dangerous thing greed is.

Yeah after seeing the episode again in better quality, the CGI really feels odd. The way they animated that bear....

Asirpa's role so far impresses me. Her natural instinct, survival skills, and personality mades her a strong woman.

Episode 1

Yoo, what's up with the CG animals? Lol

Looks like a nice action adventure show though with some thrilling violence. Something fun to watch if you aren't already seeing megalo box, so yeah!

I agree, the CGI bears were a bit offputting. Also when Retar howled it sounded like a tornado siren. But overall I'm happy, so far the characters feel true to the manga, the action looks good, and they don't seem to be watering it down too much. I just hope they don't leave out the delightfully perverse humor that the manga is full of.

Seeing the animals in CGI is going to take time to getting used to. Not a bad start to this series and we got two chapters this episode so we can expect this pace.

I have a feeling I'll be one of the outliers here, but I really didn't find this that all that enjoyable, especially given how hyped up it was going in. Sugimoto is the sort of so blatantly designed by committee "badass" that he's actually instantly annoying. The episode as a whole was way too info dumpy, even for an introduction. Asirpa seems cool but also extremely stereotypical to the point of feeling like more of a parody. I'll keep at the series for a bit because I like the promise of it's concept, and I like that it at least acknowledges the injustices done against the Ainu people, but it's going to need to do better than this for me to stick around.

As someone who is a big fan of the manga I think It's really solid so far!!
The only thing that's sorta bugging me (Besides the cgi bears) is that it was a little more rushed than the manga. But, It's the first episode so I understand. They also seemed to tone down the gore too. As long as they keep the infinite amount of boner jokes in and the other bizzare crude comedy, then it'll be a perfect adaptation.

Not hard to see why this got hyped. If this first episode is an accurate reflection of the manga then I'm going to have to read it at some stage. I'm personally a sucker for shows that delve into topics I know nothing about, and Golden Kamuy's setting is exactly that. Mix in some action that draws on for just long enough to be compelling and... yeah. I like this. As already touched on, the CGI so far has been less than stellar (and frankly I'm not expecting a rise in quality there), but it's still watchable. If this is the only complaint I'll have for this show when it's wrapped up, I'll be more than happy.

Really, there's not a lot to say; it's just a great first episode in my opinion. This is the first new series I've seen this season that has convinced me it'll be good from day 1.

This first episode with the bears and all had such a The Revenant feel to it.
Sugimoto has a plan and he's going to see it come to fruition. I mean, he just punched a bear in the face lol.
Like I expected, it's going to be interesting to see how will the events unfold.

This is about as badly done as I thought it would be. It's pretty obvious that someone didn't have enough freedom to properly adapt it or, even sadder, didn't know how. Too fast paced and at the same time so much info thrown out in this episode that you can't properly comprehend, out of which a fair amount is actually relevant later on in the story. Manga has even more info so this obviously wasn't a way to do it, maybe some SnK flash card in the middle would have been useful. Art is so ugly compared to manga too. I think though that bear was done really well, but it stands out too much against the backgrounds and the characters. Sugimoto shouting "Immortal!" every 5 mins also didn't help. Basically, another anime made for quick cash because of manga hype.

Well, it wasn't bad. I hope it gets better from here.
People overhyped this one, that's why I was expecting something different.

Lol bro jumps into the trenches surrounded by soldiers with rifles and bayonets and they decide it’s most efficient to neither attempt to shoot or stab him. With those tactics and quick thinking by the Russians there has to be numerous soldiers who came back with the immortal tag lol. I’m not like seriously judging anything on that it just made me laugh lol. I’ll keep watching until they give me a reason not too which hopefully they don’t. CGI animals were a little hard to get used to can’t deny that.
