Episode 1

In the first episode we are introduced to Narumi who transferred to a new job after her secret got out. What secret could that be? well that is being an otaku and her boyfriend even dumped her after finding out. Well on her first day on the job she wakes up late and almost gets into work late, but manages to get into work in time.

While there she meets Hanako who shows her around work and Hirotaka who Narumi knows from middle school and knows her secret. She wants to have dinner with him so she can tell him not to blurt out her secret but it's to late as he does it before they can meet. Well this isn't so bad as Narumi notices a reaction from Hanako and wonders if she could be an otaku as well? She is correct and she happens to be a popular cosplayer and a fan of Narumi's circle. When it comes to Hirotaka his a gamer otaku and happens to carry his Switch with him and plays MH XX during his break or after his shift is over.

When it comes to the best part of the episode it has to be at the end when Hirotaka asks Narumi out. If she agrees he will help her grind materials, level up, stay after work with her and help her as a sale associate. After hearing this she of course agrees and the two start dating.
The first episode was amazing!! It won me over right away and it was nice seeing some reference through out the episode. Also i like how each character is a certain otaku. Hirotaka is a gamer otaku and Narumi is a Fujoshi. Than we have Hanako who likes to cosplay and likes the same thing Narumi does. So far nothing on Tarou but will find out in the next episode. So far the best start this season and looking forward to more.

I like the character design, and I like the premise, but I keep wanting to read the title as "Woke Otaku". Heh. Will definitely watch.

As a fan of the manga I liked this first episode. It didn't exactly follow how the manga goes but at the same time it didn't just pull a bunch of **** out of its ass for no reason; the added bits and reordering made sense.

Keep it up and do Koyanagi justice!

I don't know why it's not available in the US yet, but Amazon is apparently asleep at the wheel. Seeing that Magical Girl Site went up on time that I doubt it's another situation like The Great Passage, but nevertheless somebody there is lazy.

Episode 1

It begins with Narumi meeting an old acquaintance of her's from her middle school days in Hirotaka, and he recognizes her being a fujoshi, leading to some really awkward moments. It turns out that everybody in their little friendship circle at work is into the otaku culture. Narumi had been trying so hard to keep it a secret because her ex-boyfriend dumped her when she found out. But after meeting Hirotaka, she's feeling much more comfortable letting some people know about it. That sure was a great way to start this, and seeing that Saekano movie promo there on the commuter rail adds a nice touch to this.

Ok. I broke down and watched it.

I loved everything about this except for the dude smoking. Smoking is bad m'kay.

Also my favorite OP so far too just for how fun it is to watch.

So far 3 good "romance" shows running this season. And they all seem to have good comedy missed in too.

I feel spoiled this season. It's like McDonald's. I'm lovin' it.

Not much else to say beyond that right now.

This was really enjoyable. And I love how this is not only a story about adults, but about adult working otakus. The more the industry as a whole recognizes that they are out there and a rapidly growing demographic, the more change we might see in anime.

The first episode is finally up on Amazon in the US after somebody was too lazy to put them up. No excuse whatsoever for this happening when the Americans are watching the same thing that the UK is getting, and their video was there on time: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07C4884B9

Thanks for the link! Now it's on my watchlist and I can add it to all the other non-CR shows I'm going to try to catch up on tomorrow.

No wonder Strike was a disaster. I'm surprised they even bother spending money to license stuff

Really fun first episode, and I'm quite pleasantly surprised that they went straight into the romance right away. So many romance series spend a lot of time on matching up the characters even though you know they'll end up together and, while that can work fine when done well, it's nice to see a show that gets straight to it. It should be interesting to see what this show does and where it goes next.

It was meh.
People told me it wouldn't be like MMO Junkie, but it felt like that. At least, it was a bit better.
I was expecting more since it's in the Noitamina block. But maybe I'm wrong and it improves in the next episodes.
