I suspect it is more attributable to Chromecast than Android, but Dances with the Dragons episode #2 refuses to play via Android to a Chromecast.

I need to finish the series to give it the rating it deserves (likely poor, but the end can change things). What is up with GARO -VANISHING LINE- episode #23? I was under the impression it was up for a while, but now it isn't willing to play at all.

Reviewing series from history is an interesting exercise. Episode #15 of Vampire Reign: Seraph of the End refuses to play on Chromecast via Android, at which point one starts wondering which Crunchyroll server went crunch.

Sometimes one needs to examine series which came out several years back for the heck of it. Rather unusual that Aria the Scarlet Ammo episode #3 is a mere 10:18 long according to the streaming data. Odd that all other episodes of the series are closer to 24 minutes, yet episode #3 is a mere 10 minutes long.

The Chromecast support just plain needs a severe redo. Videos certainly play, but there are problems. The Crunchyroll app quickly loses synchronization with a Chromecast. If you play 2 episodes back to back without disconnecting, you will be unable to skip backwards or fast forward during the second episode. I've also seen the Crunchyroll app lose track of having started playing something on a Chromecast, the Chromecast keeps playing, but the app has no idea it is the thing which is supposed to be controlling the Chromecast.

Time to add another one. Seems Hellsing episode #9 is 9:38 long. Somehow that just doesn't seem like the right length...

I've pretty much completely lost the ability to watch Crunchyroll on the Chromecast. The first episode of Persona 5 was painful to watch, exhibiting the sync issues where the video hangs and the audio repeats the last few seconds mentioned in the other thread, and I've been trying to watch Steins;Gate (the original, not the one coming out this season) and I'm just plain getting nothing; spinning bar, then eventually the app seems to time out or crash or something and I end up back on the screensaver photo rotation of the Chromecast itself.

I also saw, back when it worked at all, that the app and the Chromecast desynchronized at the drop of a hat as to who was in control of what.

Fortunately, I have other platforms I can use. This was simply the most convenient.

(I don't know if it is working for everybody else, but if it is systematically broken, I would strongly suggest simply pulling the app from Chromecast. If my experience is like everybody else's, in its current form it is literally worse than useless to Crunchyroll, as it currently (no sarcasm, not trying to be just internet snarky here) has a worse user experience than simply not existing. If it didn't exist, I'd just move on to something else, but since it does exist it gave me experiences that made me wonder if I should cancel my subscription. I'm not threatening to do so, just reporting how it made me feel.)

For me, things started working again around 4:06-4:36 UTC (1.5-2.0 hr ago). Current breakage episode appears over. To my pleasant surprise it appears some of the above mentioned individual episodes got fixed too. Given how long those have been problems either they read things or perhaps the current episode was the result of some sort of DB damage which had been growing.
