Hello! I'm great, thanks for asking! And although I don't believe I managed to catch you around previously, welcome back nonetheless.

But getting back on topic for me as well.

Hmm, I think I'd say that for me, a 1-cour season is probably the perfect length (around 12-ish episodes). After that, I'm fine with building up multiple cours into larger seasons (kind of like what Katana Maidens is doing now. It's a 2-cour show, but felt satisfying and complete after just 1 cour).

However, since I tend to watch primarily SoL, CGDCT, and the like, a single cour is an ideal length for getting attached to the characters without the premise of the show feeling drawn out or overextended.

There are exceptions, of course. Aria is one of my favorite series, but that went for 3 seasons and something like 50 episodes. A lot of magical girl shows I enjoy tend to follow a 50 episode standard as well.

But I'm sure I could find examples of favorites of any length, so overall, a single cour is probably closer to my "preferred length" (if I have such a thing). Really, I'm happy with anything being as long as it needs to be though.

^ This.

In the end it is the story they want to tell that should determine the length. Both the story that gets rushed to a premature conclusion and the one that gets padded with filler in order to milk it for more money are terrible things.
