Too Smart to be Happy?
Posted 7/17/07
you're right, maybe it's more about being apathetic than being selfish. la.

eros is awsome....
I have to many things to say now... I'll start with the ABC theory,
Maybe your right but it's not about the marks... or rather it's the intended marks that gives it the point.

Most people who are very smart, wants to become more knowledgeble as well. They read and study because they are curious. they end up reading the whole textbook before the second week of the semester, and of course get an A.

Most people who are creative just don't care what other people think, they don't care about grades, but often in one specific subjet, they'll get an A+, simply because they really like that subject.

As for B.... I'm sure they work hard and everything, but they are just studing to study, not because they have real interest, so they accumulate knowledge they don't really want to understand.

To get back on track, and comment on that theory, B type (currently label unsmart) can find satisfaction at some point by getting a B, the A type cannot, a thirst for knowledge is not that easely trenched.

Well theres a saying that says "ignorance is bliss." and i do not doubt that at all. but being ignorant doesnt change the fact that these things exist. everything that happens in the world affects you in some shape or form. but being ignorant about it doesnt help change it at all. its better to know whats going on around and try to make a difference. the satisfaction of knowing that you helped change the things wrong with the world should make anyone happy. in addition, there are many good things that are present all around, it would be a waste to let these things remain hidden. i believe ignorance IS bliss, but it will not change a thing

on that note. intelligent people can be very happy. i know plenty of very intelligent people who live only for themselves and are very happy. this is what you call "selfishness".

I'm one of those selfish bastards. O: Well.....Anyway, I kinda hate being intelligent sometimes....I always think in such a pessimistic way, I kinda want to be dumb and naive so I wouldn't have to think so much. xD

if there's no pain, there's no happiness either.. if you've never experienced anything painful in your life, how can you appreciate true happiness? therefore i don't think that being too smart is a bad thing. it's better to be smart enough to appreciate happiness than to be ignorant and/or stupid and have some kind of half-assed happiness. just a different approach to the question in comparison with the earlier answers..

i hope that made as much sense as it did in my head lol.. off to sleep x_x!

the problem with intelligence is we have too many question and too little answers... on the other hand idiots seem to be perfectly alright with not getting enough answers because they don't ask that much questions in the first place...
Posted 7/18/07
those are some valid points... ignorance is bliss of course. But when everyone is ignorant the world would be a pretty crappy place. Racism and stereotypes would sprial to higher levels. People would only really care about themselves. If there was something that was out of the ordinary or just weird, it would be ostracized. so i guess.... i would rather be smart than ignorant.

im intelligent and happy, but im not a genius so i only spend a limited amount of time thinking this stuff over sice i have *other* priorities in lfe.

being smart doesen't man shut yourself down and think everyone else doesen't get you.....now that's jsut downright RETAAARDEEED.

your level of happiness is not determined by your intelligence, its how you choose to feel

I can't let go of the fact that all of the stupid people I know are happy. Somehow, the weight and problems of their world just seems to melt off their shoulders like it doesn't even matter. I'm not stupid, so I find myself miserable much of the time, as are many of the intelligent people I know.

Truly boys, they know how to let their problems go and just live life. Which ironically enough, could make them the wisest of us all.

well..i still think it depends on the person..everybody has the right to be happy...intelligent or not so...but i think every one has there own intelligence..lol...

it still depends on the person's decision to be happy or not no matter what circumstances they are in...^^ make life simple....that's the answer..lol..think positive...be happy!!!

well,it depends on how one defines happiness..what is happy for one might not be for another..so it doesn't really matter if one is either intelligent or simply ignorant/stupid..
