Its more of a double-edged sword in my opinion. Intellegence can lead to a happy lifestyle and all your dreams come true but intellegence can cause paranoia, anxiety, and social restraint. Ignorance can also make you happy but in the long run it can lead you to a downward spiral of misery and sadness i.e. drugs, alchool, and gambling. So either way dumb or smart life is filled with problems but overcoming theese problems and moving on makes us stronger in mind and body.

In a way it does. Knowing more things makes you a be a keen observer. Knowing that things are amiss, makes you cynical. The more you think, the less you'd be appreciating the simple joys in life because from your standpoint, everything must have a reason -or so the rational man thinks.
Yet I still agree that knowledge makes us all powerful. With every bit learned, we are able to discover and create things that might bring us the joy we are all looking for. |

i really dont believe that crap...haha....no offense...that's not something that can be generalized you know....i know a lot of intelligent people...but contrary to what you're saying, i think most of them are happy with their lives....it's all in one's manner of thinking i guess...there are some who know how to manage themselves...when you're intelligent i dont think that necessarily means your mind is too preoccupied to have a little bit of leisure...and just to point out, i think the word "happiness" can have different meanings....depends on one's personal outlook.....there are some who dont draw happiness from superficial things.....

I'm already knowledgable and unhappy, so I'll just stay this way, because I don't really care for people that choose to be dumb or are just plain ass retarded (pardon my language if it offends)

Just be normal

You can be both, right? smart and happy! all you have to do is just to be yourself..you do the things which makes you happy..being smart isn't actually doing the right thing all the time, as long as you think it's right for you and it makes you happy, go ahead and do it! I'd rather do that than to be both foolish and unhappy

i think it's the knowledge overdose that makes you miserable. the more i know the more i feel trapped and the more i feel misery... *sings*you make me come/you make me complete/you make me completely miserable!!

Define "normal". The judge on man is nothing but a judge on himself. Apart from this shit of ignorance is bliss, it all depends on personal preference -- and let me say that simply because you choose to be ignorant, most certainly does not mean that you aren't exposed to life's ugly face. For instance, I'm quite positive everyone has heard or seen a form of animal abuse, and since everyone here is an internet junky -- a PETA documentary or two, but most don't act on it because it is much too unpleasant and would rather turn a blind eye towards the problem. "Oh yeah, that's terribly cruel that they use animals as cosmetic test subjects .......... my boyfriend is cheating on me -- OMFG Cheryl! HALP!" I tend to put an emphasis on the following matter of given value. It's typical that we only give a shit when an event is tied to our personal lives, otherwise, we'd be selfless creatures running around trying to right every wrong in the world -- and there seems to be more wrongs than rights. |

I do agree that stupid people tend to be happier, but...I'd rather keep my intelligence and have a good head on my shoulders.

basically, as one gains new knowledge and move on in life, indeed we'd be more unhappy as time goes by.
b'cos we see things in a different light. eg. children do not worry like the adults do, so they are happier. |
