There is a saying that says ignorance is bliss... and if smart people can't even find happiness than they were never smart in the first place or ever... .

That's for those who claim to be entitled for their own ignorance, whereas authentic happiness is all about practicing the art of contentedness.

That's a very balanced approach but not many people are easily content, today's society people have so much wants towards the point they became essential as our needs..I believe those who are ignorant are easily satisfied because they do not know they simply accept while those who are smart see things more differently instead of seeing what is they see what it can be..they have a harder time of accepting what comes along the way.. or whats imposed on them..

Adjusting to a state of happiness isn't always easy today not too many people follow a course of moderation and learning how to be content they just want whats out of their reach or more...

That's sometimes not true because a lot of people are smart and they can invest into that. When do so, some become happy because of their intellectual minds.

Rubbish.

Intelligence does not affect happiness in the way mentioned.

It is due to over-thinking. Anyone can over-think or over-worry. This occurs much more in girls as guys' minds would only have booze and sex.(maybe they worry about the sex part..)

Anyway, it is the mindset towards reality that affects happiness. Not intelligence.

the secret to happiness lies from within. When one changes from within, the illusionary veils of perception disappear and one can be one with all, thus attain happiness. peace over war

I think if you're less intelligent you find it easier to be happier, you pretty much don't think about the wide ranging consequences of your actions, and therefore can act more selfishly. However if you are intelligent you can be happy by having the right out look, and it's much easier to make other people happier.

The question is rather simple, but let me explain so it becomes more complicated!

I have a book : How I became stupid by Martin Page, witch was excellent by the way, and his theory was : to be too smart will cause a lot of trouble, of pain, endless night thinking over and over about questions without answer.
And the guy decides to become stupid to get rid of his troubles (of the problems in the world that he always makes his own). After attempting to become alcoholic, to get a lobotomia, (both failed), he decides to become stupid by taking drugs (anti-depressors and tranquilizers) and the plan works. He can sleep again, buy clothes that are made by children in africa, eat platified food that pollutes more than it feeds, he even finds a job and eventually get rich.

So the question is : is it better to be blind - ignorant and happy, than to see - understand the ugliness ?

Sounds like a interesting book def. gonna check it out! ya i think being to "smart"( i dont like smart, to condescending, how about different perspective) can hinder many social interactions.

Kind of reminds me of Taoism, where simplicity is the greatest form of wisdom/happiness.
