In all the other FFs I've played from 7-12, not including 11 getting gil was no big deal, but when 8's way of getting gil was like WTF? You get paid a wage and if you do certain things your wage goes up or down. Pretty stupid if you ask me. Otherwise you sold left over crap from battles or convert parts or whatever. I thought FF8's way of getting gil was dumb. Thoughts anybody?

Well, it's not all THAT bad... Every FF is different, that's what makes them all special. =)

Some humans dropped like a small amount of gil when you fought them. So I guess you can't say completely that they didn't drop money after fights. But it would probably be just a better idea to sell whatever items you pick up from battle as they are mostly useless sometimes.

Actually, VIII probably has the easiest way of getting money and I'm not talking about driving a car for 'bout 10,000 steps either.
If you have certain GF and their "right" abilites, you can make money hecka easy, and if you have Tonberry, you can get even more money doing the same exact thing. Though it takes a long time to get like millions/billions, it's the easiest way to get money on any FF game.

I love FF8's way of getting gil. Everybody has their own opinions and I respect yours too. It does get annoying, but like noobkoo says. It's the easiest way instead of fighting over 10,000 enemies just to get enough gil to get something.

uh...i found a way that if you learn certain abilities like tonberry's haggle and another abilitiy that makes mega potions out of tents (i forgot what it's called). you can buy lots of tents for a low price by having haggle and covert them into mega potions and sell them for a high price with haggle and you make a profit.

edit: oh also you need i think 10,000 gil first so doing the SeeD tests helps too.

This is provided that you're far enough into the game that the Balamb Card Club is on the Ragnarok so that you can win all your cards back. You can also win them all back from the Queen of Cards at her downed ship off the coast of Esthar in Disc 4. If you need quick cash, Carbuncle's Med-RF 100 Tent gimick is a much better deal as you can do it as early as Disc 2 when you recover your party.

Which blue GF card is that?
And what happens when you run out?

Huh, I see.
Well, I don't care to waste time playing the card game; I cheat for all the cards at the beginning of the game and refine them into items when I receive the GFs. Get some good items/weapons--though you won't get all the items for Lionheart and one or two other weapons.
