Actually, I'm starting to get kinda tired of all the hype. Yeah, it's a great show(my #1 favorite), but "greatest show ever"? tThere are plenty of other great shows out there. And thanks to the 10th anniversary and it's release on "Adult Swim", the legions of fanboys keeps growing and growing. Now there's that God awful Angelic Days manga and those upcoming movies. Gainax should just give it a rest. Don't ruin it.

Retrofitted those spoiler warnings. Gomenasai, everyone.

And I finished RahXephon over Christmas. I nearly vomited. It was SO DAMN SHAMELESS!

http://imdb.com/title/tt0364863/board/flat/6296595

That thread pretty much sums up the sh** that I noticed.
RahXephon in a nutshell: Evangelion without meaningful tragedy, PC characters you should love because they don't offend, windowdressing religious and literature themes, and Gundam-style shoot-em-up and forget.

I like this quote. You state it's EVA, but without a "meaningful tragedy". Maybe because it's not the same anime? I mean it IS different from EVA.

Not sure how you came to this conclusion.

lusulpher wrote:

Maybe I should rewatch it because it's been awhile, but I don't remember any significant religious themes. Same with literature themes.

lusulpher wrote:

Again, I'm not sure how you came up with this.

Maybe you should have stopped watching it then? I mean anime is for ENTERTAINMENT. If you aren't enjoying the show then just stop watching it. You shouldn't watch a show just to post a very, very biased review on it.

That's my opinion anyway.

^^ Azezeil, you really didint get that quote?
I thought it to be fitting.(didint that quote happen by accident and Anno didint really mean it like that, he made the Asuka seiyu think of what she would say to a burgleor that broke into her house and rather than rapeing her or killing her or whatever he could have done, he jacked off to her as she slept <-- basically what Anno said to her and then he asked what she would say to the guy if she saw him. She said :"Thats (your)Disgusting!"<--can be translated into i feel sick.)

Anyway i still dont understand why so many people think that RahXephon is better than Eva....RahXephons characters might have been more likeable but still they were similar to the vast mayority fo anime Characters out there, they start off normal, get mega strong/good at something, realise that something is amiss, are really depressed and ultimetly conquer their own demons/fears w/e...
While Eva was so much more multy-layerd and deep, Hideaki Anno deliberetly didint awnser any 101 questions since he wanted people to draw their own conclusions and that made me very glad, if people are to lazy/dumb to realise what Eva was all about then sure why not try our RahXephon but still they will miss out on so much if they do not watch Eva.
I actually wanted to cry when i watched the EoE (ep. 26) and felt so happy when i saw the ending of the original ep. 26. Well its true tat they ran out of money at the end but hey still pulled it off great and i have to give respect to Anno for doing so.

BTW: There will be the ELAM, so i wonder if they are gonna make a RXLAM...

That was f***ing hilarious! I couldn't tell if they like Eva or not(the cosplay pic made me think they didn't, but cosplay does that to all shows )

Nope, it's Eva. But done with less danger and tension(especially in the fights and arguments). And more plotholes than a bulletridden screenplay. <_<

They cloned, they nuked, they lied, sure. But was there a sense that what they did was evil or wrong. Nope(except for the one guy who killed his daughter).

Windowdressing, because a giant mech that has the power to manipulate sound and dimensions really doesn't need a religious explanation does it?
In fact, Rah devotes all of two sentences to say that the creator of the 2 Rahs is more godlike than the whole cast, and that he simply creates the systems as tools(while dropping the names of real Mayan gods as personalities of the mech-piloting systems only confused the definition of "gods").
And those bird pictures and the confusing time allusions were based on real art paintings and a book that has open-minded and artistic views of time travel. Their use of timetravel was crude in this show.

Gundam-style: You pilot the very gorgeous mech as a handsome teenage pilot, you pull out a new shiny weapon to kill every enemy, you could do so with your eyes closed.
Rah-style:copy Gundam style, add Eva emotions and Angel, minus danger. >_<

My brother figured out it was crap in two episodes. If he saw how they copied his favorite Angel(Israfel) he would have destroyed those DVDs. lol
I currently have a feud with RahX lovers everywhere and they all vehemently assert that RahX is better and more original than Evangelion, AT THE END.
I watched to the end mainly out of curiosity for the use of sound as a weapon. I now realize those RahX lovers are noobs/pussies and RahX would suck even if Eva didn't exist.
I naturally have a bias against suck. Have you not seen the shows I have flamed(you probably shouldn't, they DO suck.)

Anno wanted that line to suggest Asuka had morning sickness, but the actor's reaction to his conversation was priceless, so he went with that. I guess he let us off the hook.

The scenes leading up to that scene show phallic objects penetrating various genital images, orgasms, nude footage of Hideaki's wife(with a camera filter on), dialogue that implies forced sexual relations and white spermlike souls circling a giant red orb. then the Adam and Eve alone on the planet(for now) kinda give away what he was really implying

If anyone still has any questions about NGE you can ask them you know. I did my high school graduation project and figured out many aspects of the show in that project.

It was a powerpoint, and I got to 20 pages! I presented for 3 days on psychology, politics, and religious meaning. The teacher gave me an A+ when I hadn't even finished.

R17 = from the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy a trilogy in 4 parts

i qoute:

"R is a velocity measure, defined as a reasonable speed of travel that is consistent with physical health, mental wellbeing and not being more than about five minutes late. It is therefore clearly an almost infinitely variable figure according to circumstances, since the first two factors vary not only with speed taken as an absolute, but also with awareness of the third factor. Unless handled with tranquillity this equation can result in considerable stress, ulcers and even death.

R17 is not a fixed velocity, but it is clearly far too fast."

and the numbers on the pass card you have to enter the NEVA facilitys: there is a binary code on it = thats also the known as the "evil" code. The Thue-Morse sequence was first studied by P. Prouhet in 1851.Who applied it to the number theory. However. Prouhet did not mention the sequence explicitly;that was Axel Thue in 1906. He who used it to found the study of combinatorics on words.

(kinda geeky, but atm i am studying to become a datalog)
((as meaning "evil code" 01101001011000101. Binary numbers is as one pair =8 so that means: 01101001.011000101 = "666" code aka "beast"..as i am still green in explaining the basic all i can say and do is link to further explanation =http://mathworld.wolfram.com/Thue-MorseSequence.html)

not very good in explaining the stuff..since i am still on my first year in it(started 3 month ago..and this is somewhat technical:P)
