Is that the message you want kids to hear from their parents and teachers?

Worked for Britain. If it wasnt for your country getting your balls ripped out in World War 2 your Sci Fi and and Comedy would suck like your Drama.

depends on situation's some kids are good some are just bad... i would probably hit a child if he knew it was wrong and still he'd done it.
intensity also matter's first hit is always a bit gentle... then gradually increase...

Corporal punishment can be very psychologically damaging and should be avoided in some cases such as where a child has an accident or did something wrong unintentionally. However in my opinion the easiest way to correct behavioral problems is simply to have a child associate those problems to pain. I a child is being extremely obnoxious, rude, or otherwise misconducting him/herself i don't think any other form of punishment suffices to a good spanking or backhand. Its worked for the entire world for thousands of years and honestly i believe these new ideas are simply trying to challenge a PROVEN and effective method. I was corporally punished when i was young and it hasn't negatively impacted me a bit.

Four contexts of operant conditioning:

1. Positive reinforcement occurs when a behavior (response) is followed by a favorable stimulus (commonly seen as pleasant) that increases the frequency of that behavior. In the Skinner box experiment, a stimulus such as food or sugar solution can be delivered when the rat engages in a target behavior, such as pressing a lever.
2. Negative reinforcement occurs when a behavior (response) is followed by the removal of an aversive stimulus (commonly seen as unpleasant) thereby increasing that behavior's frequency. In the Skinner box experiment, negative reinforcement can be a loud noise continuously sounding inside the rat's cage until it engages in the target behavior, such as pressing a lever, upon which the loud noise is removed.
3. Positive punishment (also called "Punishment by contingent stimulation") occurs when a behavior (response) is followed by an aversive stimulus, such as introducing a shock or loud noise, resulting in a decrease in that behavior.
4. Negative punishment (also called "Punishment by contingent withdrawal") occurs when a behavior (response) is followed by the removal of a favorable stimulus, such as taking away a child's toy following an undesired behavior, resulting in a decrease in that behavior.

(I'm too lazy too write all that myself so i just quoted it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operant_conditioning )

anyways corporal punishment would fit in the third option, which is the is the one i don't like.

All of the other are just as effective as positive punishment, and if you have to punish there's still negative punishment which would be as said before just as effective as positive punishment.
If there's other options i would rather choose them instead of resorting to violence.
If i did beat my kid i would take the risk of making violence something the kid would relate to as normal and might therefore get a lil punk that beats up other kids.

Big talk considering you're all late to every fight.

Sure go on believing that you single headedly won the war if it helps you sleep at night. I'll just make sure not to ask an American the directions to France, it'd more likely than not end up in Spain!

I've no idea why I'm so irritated. :sweatingbullets:

Oh and before I forget: Your post makes no sense.

it actually depends on the child on how he will take that punishment. i was raised like that, my dad hits me with his belt whenever i did something terrible especially when i know that what i did was wrong and still did it anyways. now, i'm a pretty good girl and trust me i don't think that violence is the only way and i don't bully or assault my peers. if my child gives me an attitude and decided to show his rebellious side, i don't think a serious talk won't make him do what's right. i'm going to give him a hard slap or two on the butt until he shows me that he's changing for the better.

I must be tired because when I first read the title I read capital punishment, and I was so going to agree.

I do not believe that corporal punishment is suitable for children. There are much worse punishments they can receive than physical ones, and ones that don't go against the law. A "good kid" can be punished easily by a phone call to their parents or a suspension. A "bad kid" would not care about any of those things, which includes the corporal punishment. Heck, they won't be in school most of the time anyway.

so when a kid does something bad, the teacher is allowed to hit them as punishment right? but isnt hitting a little kid considered bad.. therefore i propose that when kids get hit.. turned around and smack ur teacher

note: This does not give u permission to start hitting ur teachers lol
