I really have high hopes for this movie after it was released back then, since the game is one of the best. However,i must say there are some things that really pull this movie down.

Let's start off with the animation. Now,which fools here would think that the animation is not top notch? The 3D graphics are excellent, and i have fun playing a prank on one of my friends who actually thought it was real. The seiyuus behind this did an amazing job, especially Takahiro Sakurai who voiced Cloud Strife.I couldn't think of any better seiyuu to voice him.The soundtrack is great and fits the actions scenes perfectly. One winged Angel and Battle in the Forgotten City remains as one of my favourites.

But perhaps, that is the only thing good about Advent Children.

Moving on to the story, those who never touch this game before should actually stay away from this, because i seriously doubt you will understand wtf the story is about. Most of the time you will go "HUH?!".80% of this movie is about fighting, and there is no background story provided.

But even for those who play the game, the appearance of the 3 bad guys seem somewhat random.I mean, all of the sudden these bishies appear and wanted to destroy Shinra. But they target "Onii-san",Cloud and the fight begins from there.Fight,fight,fight,fight,fight,fight..........................................the end.It is your typical good vs evil type of movie.Nothing special. But if you bought the DVD,be sure to watch "Reminiscent".I personally enjoy that one better.

The actions scenes here are difficult to watch at times. You can't take your eyes off even for half a second. It is so fast, you may just find eyes spinning.

As for the characters, the rest of the Cloud's gang made only a minimal appearance, because you know, this whole show is about Cloud and Kadaj and his gang.

Overall,if you want to watch an anime movie with superb animation and soundtrack, this is for you.But dont expect too much from the story, because like i said,it is 80% fighting. The story is this:

Everyone's life is back to normal after the events in the game --> An illness named Geostigma that was caused by Mako has affected a lot of people, including our hero Cloud Strife--->3 new villains out to revive Sephiroth--->Hero Cloud Strife is here to save the day--->The world is saved.........again

This graphics of this show is probably one of the best 3D animation around, but the plot is somewhat lacking. 3 weirdos who wish to find their mum (sephiroth is gay :D) is all they had for a storyboard.

If the fighting scene between cloud and sephiroth is further expanded on, the show would have been much nicer.
Cloud's finishing move was trapping spehiroth in a cage of swords, and then dicing him to bits.

I cannot comment on the sound effects are i usually keep volumes to the minimum and hence I cannot listen to every detail there is.

For cloud fans, this will be a nice show, for someone who hates everything, this is just a show one can watch for the sake of passing time.

the only thing i gotta say is that advent children (in my opinion) is the best FF movie ever made. plus, the movie really was about FF7.. unlike the other FF movies i've seen, they were boring! >_<

What do you mean by that? ^^ Do you mean the Final Fantasy series or Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within? cuz the series isn't a series of movies - its a series of RPG games ^^ and Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within is the only second Final Fantasy movie (can someone do a review on that?) to appear - you can watch it on Youtube

For me, Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children's graphics are good, Sephiroth's theme rocks here (called, "One Winged Angel), and the battle scenes are alright, but other than that, the plot is kinda bit rusty - a bit too many talk scenes DX...some dubbings for the English version are alright, but, though Kadaj (is that how you spell his name?)'s voice is excellent in Japanese, its a bit...uhhh..."strange" in English...

I know this is going to hurt all the die hard fans but ...... I HATE FINAL FANTASY!!!!! I don't like any of them! The games, series, or the movie.

Like all of you, i know its really confusing. but i watched the dvd countless times because i loved it, and because i watched it countless times, i understood a lot of things along the way.

The "mother" their looking for is Jenova (not sephiroth). Jenova, or rather, Jenova's remains, are what is needed to revive seph. Jenova's remains are in the black box Rufus (the guy in the wheelchair) was holding. So, not knowing this, kadaj and his crew (:3) ask rufus where their "mother's" remains are. so rufus says that it's in the abandoned city at the start of the game (silent city?), then he says it's on cloud's place, then he says its with cloud, then he says its under the huge monument in the middle of the city. he keeps adlibing until he was ready to tell kadaj the truth. thats one of the reasons kadaj was so angry when he found out it was with rufus all along.

i could answer a lot of questions i think.. but one thing i'm not sure of is who the wolf is. u know, the blue wolf? i'm guessing it's the planet.

Well,i thought this was one hell of a cool anime! The graphics was really cool and so was Cloud =) And the rest of the characters too, undoubtedly. But i think the story was kinda left hanging a little, there were a few unresolved issues and somehow the plot didn't go deep enough or it would have been a perfect anime.Still,it's as good as we can get so i'm pretty content with that ^_^
