I do know dog meat is eaten by quite a few Asians such as Koreans, Chinese, Southeast Asians, Filipinos (for religious reasons and non-religious reasons although not frequently in either case). The one and only time I had dog meat was at a POW WOW (so you can include some Native Americans in the dog-eating group) and I didn't know what I was eating but when I found out I totally puked and embarrased myself quite majorly. I can't even remember what it tasted like, I can only associate it with the stench of vomit and the taste of bile. Haha.

Well, look at it this way, at least it's not cannibalism.
Hey, at least let me remind you that some other countries eat frogs, monkey brains, squid, etc.

Nothing wrong with dog meat... It's just.. pet dogs... Otherwise-it's perfectly normal. Have to start somewhere, I'm sure at a point people probably thought eating fish/cow was wrong or disgusting too.. I mean as long as you're hungry and it's edible food, wouldn't it be weird not to want to eat it? Tho I think that guy probably had some mental disorder or was on drugs, because stealing a pet CHIHUAHUA of ALL dogs and attempting to eat it when he could probably find food through much easier means is nutz.

poor landlady. who knew a trip to the bathroom would end in death and fire?

Yea, and the chihuahua is not exactly the most type of dog meat farming dog from what I understand. The ones I've seen look more like dobermans or german shepherds or something.

i don't really approve of dogs becoming human food... what happened to dogs-are-man's-bestfriend relationship...
think of it: eating dogs is just like eating our bestfriends...
and also, out of all dogs, chihuahua????
i mean, chihuahuas are small creatures
and quite expensive too...
have mercy on them

A 52-year-old man was caught for attempting to eat his landlady's pet dog.

The man, identified as Park, took the pet Chihuahua into his room, while his 69-year-old landlady Jeon was in the bathroom. He then killed the dog and attempted to cook it at the boarding house in Jongno, Seoul, Monday afternoon.

Park tried to scorch the dog before cooking it in his room, but his clothes in the room caught fire and emitted smoke. His neighbors called the firefighters and his attempt to cook the dog was detected by neighbors and firefighters, according to police.

Police quoted Park, drunk when apprehended, as saying, ``I did so because I was hungry.''

He was booked without physical detention on charges of theft.

Well, at least he had a good reason.
I wonder if it was one of those "barking all night" dogs? I hear they taste best.

I wonder if Hannibal said the same thing?

nasty, he tried to make a roasted chihuahua?!?!

but then again, eating dogs isn't uncommon in asia.
