I don't think it's gonna happen. Even though it seems like we're progressing towards it, theres always going to be people with conflicting ideas on how a nation should run, so there will never be one nation under one system.

i think globalization is terrible. globalization has led to mass poverty and starvation all across the globe. exploitation of the weak by the powerful, cheating the poor nations out of their resources to feed giant consumer beasts like the U.S, UK and Japan. there are reasons why nations rich in natural resources like Ecuador, indonesia, and many african nations have seen an INCREASE in poverty and unemployment rates when their resources are discovered instead of those rates going down. there reasons that there are protests at every WTO (world trade organization) meeting. there are reasons why multinational energy companies and engineering firms make more and more profits every year.

DON'T SUPPORT GLOBALIZATION!! DON'T SUPPORT FREE TRADE!!

I think u r one of the people respond that get the correct definition of globalization. I did not know much until I took economic classes and from my point of view it is a very bad things. Globalization already happened and expanding. It cause a huge gap between between the rich and the poor and exploitation of workers in third world countries badly. Globalization only benefit firms and not the people or workers. Big companies like Wal-mart, etc are causing underemployment and driving domestic businesses to foreclosure and bankruptcy. In time small business ceased to exist because they cannot competed against big cooperations. Sound familiar? Monopolized? People should watch the documentary : Is Wal-mart Good for America? Then you will get a better understanding of globalization and exploitation.

I've had a lengthy discussion with my friend in egypt about this and what it came down to was this. A global government is a great thing to have but if and only if it is run under strict checks and balances where a small portion of people will have the ability to challenge any and all proposed or recently inacted legislation.

If treated like say the united states where each country would have equal say in their own legislation but also play a part in the greater legislation of the world.
It would also depend on the constitution written (as a new world government would erase all current binding agreements for citizen rights) in the fact that ALL rights granted would have to be 100% unalienable, meaning they cant be taken away.

This would have to be strong enough to stay in effect until humanity colonizes other worlds, say 100-200 years from now.
Unfortunately recent events have made it abundantly clear that this future may not be possible unless citizens begin refusing to throw away their rights for some hightend measure of safety.

As for a previous statement about democracy and captialism being the best ways, they can be, or more so each government has its own ups and downs. What is currently in place in the USA is a representative democracy.

Unfortunately this isnt a very good form of govenrment because 49% of the population isnt free. Originally the USA was a republic and avoided a central bank. Now its a representative democracy which is even worse in some cases then a normal democracy because as shown in the 2000's elections even 51% of the population can still lose as long as the electoral college numbers are right.

I could go on but i want this to be short
