My father always told me in the morning before going to school "Make it a good day!"
I always think about that, and i like that my father is wishing me wisdom to make my day what i want it to be.
That he thinks i have control over the happenings in my life.

What do you guys think?

Do we have control over our destinies?

pretty much until the shit variable comes in the equation... on the other hand it can be remedied if you're determined enough to face the variable... then there's the fan... which is the multiplier effect... so basically shit x fan... sweet huh...?

well for the most things i think you have some influence. people often say life is what you make it and i think they're right.if you think something is hopeless and you dont want to put effort in it then it will stay hopeless. thats how i see it, you have to try to make the best out of things even when your sky is covered with clouds.

This thread sounds familiar... but ill answer anyways.

I think we do have control to the extent that there is no supernatural deity controlling our actions. We have an active part in our lives and what we get out of life depends on how much we put in. I am annoyed by people who resign their life to fate, either good events or bad ones. If something bad happens, you didnt get the job you wanted, you didnt get into a school etc. etc. nothing infuriates me more than the words 'it wasnt meant to be.' If you wanted it you could damn well just go out an do it.

But then there are the external factors that we'll never be able to control. A lot of things we do in life depend on how other people percieve us. Lets face it, no matter how skilled and confident you are, I doubt you'll be able to get a proper job looking like a hobo (just one, poor example of what im trying to say)

Back on topic, ultimately, yes I think we do control the direction our lives take.

Yes I do.

And I think I shall start making this a good day by masturbating.

Yes there is a karma, fate, destiny thread... but it just asks if you believe in them.
I'm asking a more specific question.

I like the way you think! :::smiles:::

But can you controll how other people view you by adjusting your actions and clothing etc etc?

Thank you.

I think we make our own destinies ^-^. I really like that phrase your father used- i will be stealing that now ^-^
