I feel the same way about Haruhi.

I watched 2 episodes, and liked none of the characters. Thus, I dropped it.

Few months after, it's the "it" anime of the year, and I might as well be kicking myself.

In any case, this is a good idea.

meh its a good plot but i think the excution of the plot was kinda weak. It could of been alot better but they went for fanservice and comdey over action. Which worked altough action way would of been alot better.

it's the most ironic plot of the year, if you try to watch it in order it makes complete sense, even though it is utter insanity if you truly understand it. That is what irony is all about.

But looking at the titles and trying to find the order, is frustrating and too clever for the ordinary mind. It basically requires rewatching to ensure you have seen it correctly, that's pretty much the only weakness.

Words really can't describe how creepy that show is to me, it's like if they made a show about some of the stuff I fantisized happening to me if aliens were real, and what I would do if I were God. Image But then they use scientific terms and philosophies I thought I was the only one to imagine, and I'm sitting there crapping myself. Image

I can only assume that it is an anti-cynical satire of our scientific/atheistic population.
It puts a cynical person dead in a firestorm of superstition and that person can't deny what he has seen and experienced.
If you are a said atheist/scientific person, this might be a little offensive to you, so be cautious. Open minds are required. Image

Not at all. It was actually about Haruhi's feelings of insignificance in the world and how ironic it was that she actually was the most important being of the world. I guess you could look at things that way, but can say with the utmost confidence that they did not intend for it to be a satire. The real beauty of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya was in the cinematography and script writing. Most of the time, people overlook the way things are said and look at the meaning. If you look at both, you have to recognize the damn good writing in Kyon's dialogue. The order as placed was placed in that order on purpose. Don't watch it in order unless you don't understand the basic plot, but its not that hard. The reason for the random order was to draw you into watching the next episode by confusing you of what the hell is going on. Not to mention the way they incorporated anthropic principle into the plot. Of course the first episode was misleading. I stopped watching for a while when I saw that and then when I finished the series, I looked back and the first episode made sense. It basically told you the entire plot and makes you laugh at it later on. The excitement of trying to find out more about Haruhi and her influence in the world (Haruhiismm) was what really kept me stuck on the series. Not to mention, the countless foreshadowing of what come in the future novels. I guess I prefer a lot of anime that are based off of novels then manga mainly because most of the time the novel based anime script writing just sounds so much better to me.

I was thinking though, couldn't we just click on a mods name and look under videos added to favorites? Image

It just occured to me that people have the ability to add entire series to their favorites now, so can't people just use our profiles?

Not all the series in my favorites are things that i'd recommend. Two of em are just there cuz i might watch them so they serve as a reminder. When I'm currently watching a series i just favorite the last episode i watched to keep my place.

That's why and who looks at my profile? Image

You can buy Now and then, Here and there for REALLY CHEAP with an bonus disc. I know that a lot of people don't buy anime here, but its REALLY CHEAP and REALLY worth it. Just don't listen to the dubs. This is coming from a guy that watches a lot of dubs and take it from me, don't watch this one. However, there is a lot of extras on the bonus disc and its in DVD quality so go for it.

P.S. The dub voice of Hamdo i think did a pretty solid job.
