A Otaku term used to describe hardcore fans which is often used to describe hardcore fans of sci-fi, computer games, anime and manga and dojinshi - Japanese for Fan Zine. Many dojinshi are hentai and hentai is...well go find it at WikipediA and some otaku do Cosplay restaurantis and a fairly derogatory term used to describe an obsessed fan of something (not necessarily anime). In North America, however, the term is often a badge of honor for hard-core anime fans. Sometimes also used to refer to anime fans in general. Otaku (playing video games), and wota (before referred as "idol otaku") that are extreme fans of idols, heavily promoted singing girls. There are also tetsudō otaku or denshamania (metrophiles) or gunji otaku. Well,that all i know about an Otaku but that my opinion and how about you...what your opinion. Feel free to say anything. American Otaku should be treated differently though(think of AO as a milder form of JO---or "extreme, but not that extreme")

In some ways, I feel like an Otaku. haha Definitely not to the extreme. Like how you put it, in the U.S. they see Otakus as being anime fans so I guess I would fall under that category. Cosplay is interesting to see and I would go to a convention one day but I don't think I would ever participate. As I said before, I'm not that extreme when it comes to things like that. I just enjoy anime.
