Nerd - someone who generally obssessess(correct spelling?) over something, in time many things have been added unto that list of obsessions. So generally someone who does nerdy stuff (even though it's in a small amount) can be called a nerd. I don't know how it is where you live but over here, "nerd" is term used casually everyday and not mostly as an insult. What you're thinking about is the word "geek" that basically means social reject. Geeks are often confused with nerds since they probably don't have and understand a social life because they do indoor stuff 24/7; those stuff which happens to be nerdy stuff.

No, that is not quite right. They like to do something intensively. For example, someone who casually play games would just play a game trough ones and then leave it; a nerd would want to complete it 100% and on all difficulties. Basically, someone who is intensively into and doing something is "nerding" it. Yes, but only about nerdy stuff or school subjects in general (you probably have at least one wizkid who geat straight A's in your class, right?). Exactly, but not for sports since they doesn't fall in the "nerd" category of things to do.

Exactly, but not for sports since they doesn't fall in the "nerd" category of things to do. okey, but I don't have any wizkids in my class with straight a's(the school system in here is kinda weird and I happen to be in a class with people who only are interested in culture and society~ though I know two wizkids since I've been a special science class for two yours XDD ) anyway I guess I know a lot of nerds.. and otaku..(well those who are it a bit~) all I know is that all people are weird in some way and those who are seen as weird by a large group of people happen to be nice(mostly; not always~) after all humans are humans~
