i ahet the term "rebel without a cause"

thats something posers came up with to sound cool
punks always had a cause...anarchy, the break down of government and the reinstitution of free will

Punk - R.I.P.

It was an ideal - a perfect abandonment of society and its structure. It was a grand brief, but wonderful, portion of music and counter culture history, but it's been long over. It's just necrophellia at this point.

The punk spirit has continued to move on to other genre's since then. It think the old school Black Metal scene had the punk spirit, from about the late 80s to the death of Euronymous.

how can "the unk spirit" move onto other genres?
it fuckin punk, not another genre

and punk actually died recently, when Jello Biafra left the Dead Kennedys

Although it is dead you can actually find alot of similarity between punk culture and the REAL hxc scene which would make sense since hardcore music was just a branch of of punk. So yes the actual punk scene maybe dead but the ideals and beliefs do exist to some extent in other genres.
