i wanna know everyone's opinion!

Well, as the saying goes.
forgive and forget

but as for me. I dont believe it. YES, i Forgive.. but never forget. i know its not right to keep bad feelings for other
people. But what im saying is like, 'i cannot forget what they have done to me' wether its bad or even the worse!
i can 'move-on' (though they say that u can nver move on if u dont forget the bad thoughts) but then, what's happened will never be erased nor changed. It's thesame as having a wound healed but then a scar will always be there to remind you of the pain you've gained from the past.

i jus dont want to be a hippocrite and say that i forgot everything bad that they have done to me in the past.
but i think the key to this is jus gain MORE good and happy memories to overweigh those bitter and bad ones.

what you think?

wanna see everyone's different point of views.

I don`t believe this but I do it . It`s not intentional .
I eventually forget what happens after it happens unless it was severe .
All those people who hated me when I was little , I had forgotten why they hated me .
After I forgive , it seems like it doesn`t matter anymore so I forget .
Those are for lighter problems .
I haven`t experienced anything so severe someone has done to me that
I remember it clearly except if it was recent .

according to viking law, if you don't take revenge on a man who has insulted you or your family then you are honorless and fit the title of whatever insult it was.

depends really if it wasn't a big problem i forgive and forget but if it's a huge one i will plan a way to completely humiliate them.

Yea i know that saying, but being blind will make you see the harsh reality on the unfairness of this world... but what the hell... I don't care if im blind or whatever, eye for an eye still... no disrespect to you, you have a very good point anyways...

Forgetting things is almost to deny them their very existence... This is what is so great about it. Why not void out the tragedies in life to make yourself ignorant once again? As for forgiveness, i really doubt that there is something which could never be forgiven if given enough time... which is why immortals don't care much to keep rivals and whatnot.

I had a friend that would "forgive" but wouldn't "forget". (it was the case back in grade six where i broke her mittens by accident)

so she would always rub it in...

but hey...I guess nothing have made an effect to our friend ship. as for my self, personally, I forget naturally depending on what you did, and I would forgive as well....and I would probably forgive a person for SURE. Long as that person WANTS my forgiveness =)

and as for, forget, its not something that i can control, its not like "oh, I want to forget that *presses forget button* forgets!" but I wouldn't normally bother to choose, because the harder i try to forget something, the harder it will be to "forget".

Hah. An interesting topic indeed... I'll keep track of this thread...

Anyway, I do believe in "forgive and forget". Sadly, this is what most Christians forget these days. Read Matthew 5:38-41. I don't mean to preach, but this world would be a better place if everyone practiced it, right?

IMO, the easy part is to forgive. The harder part is to forget. It's not easy to forget when someone bashed you in the skull with a chair. It's not easy to forget when you've been betrayed by someone you trusted the most. I admit, I can never completely forget myself. But I think, the forget part of the saying actually means "do not dwell on it". I don't think we should take it literally. We are just humans, after all. If you can really forget about the wrongs people committed against you, you might want to see a doctor. Anyway, it doesn't really matter if you forgive, if you think about it all the time, right? Kitkhatt is right concerning the "moving-on" part.

So let's make life easier. Don't retaliate. Makes life easier. No complex schemes to plan, no alibis to practice, no murder weapons to dispose of...

~Peace!

I think it's better to forgive and forget for the sake of one's health. Always holding things in is not good for you and your body, so for the sake of yourself, it's better to forgive and forget. That person who insulted you might not have not even known that he/she had even hurt your feelings, so while you go sulk in a corner they just go on with their own lives. That's why, instead of sulking in a corner, you should just forget it and move on; don't let that other person stick it to you by breaking down and moping. You should stick it to them by forgetting the whole thing and flourish with your life. Remember, you're not the only person in the world, there are people like you who also suffer and cry. You're not alone.

I usually forget, and eventually that leads to forgiveness. I just can't hold a grudge because I can never remember that I'm holding onto it!
