First of all, I'm not sure where this thread belongs exactly, so sorry if it's in the wrong thread.

Second, I been thinking a lot recently about how fans are suppose to behave.

What should a fan of someone do? Buy their CD's, watch their dramas? Promote their idols? Send their idols gifts? Send hate mail to people who offends your idol?

Personally, I been contemplating about several "fan" incidents.

1. On a recent show, Ken Zhu of F4 said he hated Chinese fans because they always want to talk to him. Is that wrong? Is it better to be a reserved and respectful fan or a passionate and excited fan?

2. When SJ's Leetuk said that a certain celebrity didn't add him as a friend online, e.l.f. went on her website and trashed it. Is it what a fan should do? Defend their idols no matter what?

3. One of Andy Lau's fans sold everything in her family to go see him in concerts, even when her father suicided. In fact, her father said in his will that he wanted his daughter to see Andy Lau. Is such obsession necessary? Is she considered a "good fan?"

btw, the reason her father suicided was because of her obsession w/ Andy Lau.

4. Ending on a good note. Here's what I think are wonderful fan behavior. Yesterday, I stumbled upon a video made by SJ's Han Geng 's fans for his birthday, and it made me smile. They organized 400 fans across 12 provinces to volunteer at various organizations for the disadvantaged and donated 40000 Chinese Yuan as well as hundreds of school supplies and winter accessories. Several scenes showed the kids at poor schools drawing pictures for Han Geng. Watching that video made me cry. They are such cute fans, spreading good will in the name of their idol.

Anyways, what do you guys think about being a fan and what are the right fan behaviors?

Continuation...so, Han Geng's fans are officially my favorite people. They're so freaking organized. Ken Zhu may have complained about rude Chinese fans, but he obviously did not see Han Geng's fans. Even welcoming him at the airport, they are so organized and without disruptions (and on a less than one day notice, too). Apparently, following his lead, they also raised about 30000 Yuan for the Chinese winter relief effort. Honestly, I think what type of star has what type of fans. Innocent and sweet Han Geng has such awesome fans.

How come i have no fans? damn, does CR not know me?

Honestly, I really don't know. I mean, I listen to Zhou Jie Lun's music. I only admire and idolize him, not anything beyond that.

But then I'm a One Piece fan also... And when people say something negative about this Anime, I'd bash them and rape them. >_>

There`s a difference between a fan and being an obsessive freak .
A fan admires the person`s talents and looks .
An obsessive freak talks about the person 24 / 7 and he or she
is the only one this freak thinks about , nothing else .
This freak most likely married the person 200 times in his / her dreams .

No.3 is creeepy. I am a healthy fan of Kame, I wouldn't do anything just to see his concert. I mean, there is a limit to fandom

means. you support them, at whatever they be doin'

It means you like and respect their work and or talent. Anyways, I'm not the type of fan who would buy something JUST b/c I like the artist's previous work. I only buy what I like no matter whose work it is although I will admit that I stay away from certain artists whose work I know is subpar because they have none to little talent (and there are MANY of them out there who are somehow popular). I also may like someone's work but I am not at all interested in them or their personal life, only in what they produce and what personal meaning I glean from their work. I'm not a "fan girl type" and will never be.
