If it's based on an H-game, I avoid it. (Fate/Stay's the hugest victim. Anything from Aquaplus that doesn't have a 2 in it is the exception)

If its main potion is fanservice, I ignore it. (Green Green, He is my Master)

If after 2 episodes, I like none of the characters, it's gone. (Haruhi... Man, I'm a retard)

Yes, I'm extremely picky about what I watch, especially since I'm in the transition of getting a job. My anime watching time is considered valuable, and would rather not be wasted.

I have ARS out of fear of wasting time.

It's just for every To Heart that exists, there's a DEARS to suck horribly, and turn you off the genre for a good amount of time.

I likd DearS, but I'm more inclined to accept an anime for what it is as opposed to what I want it to be. I knew DearS was going to be a cheesy fanservice ecchi chobits knock off romp, and it acheived my expectations marvelously. I don't hold every anime up the same standard, though it is nice when I'm surprised.

To Heart is great, I still need to finish the other To Heart series. I think the character design is putting me off... though I know I'll enjoy it if I watch it. As long as Multi and Akari-chan get enough screen time.

To Heart 2, I just can't bare my heart to watch.

I loved everyone in the original To Heart cast, and I even watched the psuedo-sequel.

When I heard they dropped everyone for the new To Heart, I nearly died.

It's just like how it was with Galaxy Angel and their new anime (Granted, they briefly brought back the originals for 1 episode, but it's the principle) .

Maybe it's the fact that anime is becoming a popular target of merchandising that newer viewers suffer from their ignorant opinions of anime.

I have have a list of shows that completely insult my intelligence as an anime viewer , but with cheaper studios jumping the bandwagon, it's a slippery slope into a shitpile. More fanservice DOES NOT = BETTER ROMANCE! More bigger mechs DOES NOT = more action! More vague statements DOES NOT = better plot and dialogue!

I've only seen about ten refreshing new shows this year, and I haven't finished them because I give some tasteless ultra-crap a fair chance to impress me.(3-5 episodes) (Air, RahXephon, One Piece, Gundam SEED, DearS and Elfen Lied. )

Good thing I saw Mind Game, Deathnote, and Now and Then Here and Then, Golden Boy, and Melancholy of Haruhi S. A couple episodes of each made up for 3 months of wasted time.

And what about Classical Anime Refusal Syndrome (CARS)?
Anime noobs who have heard about the classics in a certain genre, but assume that the new better-looking series is the first to do what they are doing, and since they have better graphics, they own that whole genre. "The graphics are too old.""This show is not a ripoff of that show."-sentences of denial.
When asked if they have seen the classic, they either have never, or were too young when they saw it to even understand them. Classics are for rewatching-a concept lost on the new generation.

I can enjoy vintage anime, but I rarely go in search of it. I think the only vintage anime I own is the original D and Akira (if that counts). Most of the time I really don't think its all that good, though I did really enjoy the Gundam 0079 I saw. I'd like to finish watching it, but I'm not sure if the subbed version is available in the US.

That's it? Damn.
Wait till you see the 6 episodes of 0080 Gundam, you will never look at the Gundam conflict the same again.

This kind of show just shows some of the gold that is lost over time. And the advantage of classics is that they are time tested, you rarely have to sift through crap.
