You guys seem to be jumping on the "oh no. This might be racist" wagon. Many "brown" people actually do refer to themselves as brown. Brown refers to people from India, Pakistan, and basically most of South Asia and the Mid-East. Just the way someone who is white, Causasian, or Scottish will refer to themselves as white. It's acting like those white people who are afraid to say black so they say "African American" or something. Anyway, I think there is a decent brown population on CR. It's a guess but I don't think certain regional movie like "Bollywood" films are in CR though. Maybe it's because there isn't enough of a demand on CR or because the styles of media are a bit different.

LMAO! I have to say, the first part I believe in, but "It's a guess but I don't think certain regional movie like "Bollywood" films are in CR though." is unfortunately way off the mark. Remember, "brown" people don't all like bollywood Heck, quite alot of them hate how pathetic it is...

::shrug:: I had no idea it was so unpopular amongst brown people. They had an Indian film thread with people talking about it and some Indian girl on CR told me that Indian films were the biggest in the world. (Although I'm pretty sure that the US film industry is bigger; not in terms of ticket sales or # of movies made) I assumed some people would or have asked for South Asian movies (especially Bollywood). I guess not.

hehe, it's np. I'm not trying to dig at you, i just felt it would be nice to say that not all "brown" people like it.....even though some are nuts about it. Honestly, watch one of them and you will really see how crap (pardon my language) it really is.

Indian movies have been cheesy, unoriginal, copied and poorly done for a number of years. That being said- i have grown up on them so i have a pretty good insight. Indian movies in the 90's are like hollywood movies in the 80's- poorly acted and most of them lack substance and style. However the most early indian movies were excellent with indepth stories and well done acting. I mean really far back- like 70 and less. For just the period of 1980-2000 the movies followed a simalar story arc and were just deplorable. after 2000- there have been a few original triumphs but most have been copies of hollywood movies and done sub par. In the last year or two i have been impressed with a greater number of movied than i have been for a very long time. Veer Zarra was done well (because it was directed by a directer from the 60's), Taare Zameen Par was well acted out and the use of music was not cheesy at all. Swadesh was original (somewhat simalar to an indian movie form the 70's),the music wasnt really cheesy and the acting was good. Jodhaa Akbar came out just this week and i was impressed by the movie for the most part (other than the acting of a few minor characters)- this particular one was based on historical events in india. Music wasnt cheesy in this one at all. These were original movies that werent cheesy and were acted well. The bollywood film industry is the second largest (in terms of demographic) with the fastest growth rate in the world so it is enevitable that the movies will get better and better till they normalize

I just took my post from another thread on here... it seemed to apply here.

btw, brown really isnt racist- we dont call it african-american history month we call it black history month. Its just another derogatory term to describe the appearance of those from the middle east.
