How Do You Fight?
Posted 2/23/08 , edited 2/28/08
There's a similar thread like this created by Typical_Friend, so I'm not sure if this one can stay unlocked or not.

So how do you fight? Coming from my own experience, no matter how sharp your reflexes are, how strong your muscles are, how fast your body is, or how godly your skills are at fighting, getting injured is inevitable. There is no such thing as a fight without getting harmed. (If you post that you've never gotten hurt in a fight, then you're either bullshitting or you've probably just fought some 10 year olds)

Do you have your own style? (Ex: Street-fighting)
What do you specialize in?
Where or when are your skills effective at?
Do you think about morals when you fight?

To answer those questions, I use both Shaolin and Praying Mantis style of Kung Fu. Shaolin increases my agility, flexibility and balance, while Praying Mantis increases my preciseness. I would usually prefer a fight not short-ranged because I lack techniques that can counter those. So when I fight, I tend not to drive into the opponent, in case of being grabbed or thrown on the ground, because once I'm on the ground, anything could happen, and I'd be technically helpless.

The opponents I would love to fight the most are body-builders. They have huge muscles, but they move like turtles. They put everything on their upper body, and nothing on their lower body, they lack so much balance it's not even funny.... >_>. The ones I would hate to fight are wrestlers or Muay Thai fighters... Like I've said before, I hate short ranged, and wrestlers... you know, wrestle. And I hate it when Muay Thai fighters try to hit with their elbows and knees. They're pretty scary and a perfect style to train buffed people because it doesn't require much flexibility. I usually lose against experienced wrestlers... damn grappling..

I look at Morality as an important role in fighting. Unless it's an unfair fight, I would never do something underhanded to the opponent. For me, kicking the other person's crotch is against my one of my own rules. And I usually let the guy escape after he has been defeated. Your opponent WILL know when he has already been defeated. There's no point of beating up a person who cannot fight back and has already lost his pride.

One on One fights only. No guns allowed. I hope this thread doesn't get locked. =P

Some of you misunderstands the point of this thread. This thread isn't about how great or invincible you are. Simply share your experiences and thoughts.

if u already know theres a dup why make this?

Not really. Thread doesn't fail because the thread made by Typical_Friend is called "Ever Had A Fight In Your School?". Doesn't say anything about skills or styles. I think your post failed. Would you mind deleting it please?

I generally wait till they do a barrage or punch then move back and strike as soon as my opponent starts to pull back.

How do i fight? I lure my opponents with a simple gesture then strike with a final attack while stealing their wallet.

Cat fighting is my style.

What do you specialize in?

Cat fights. Scratching works well but pulling hair works even better.

Where or when are your skills effective at?

When someone deserves it.

Well, I personally use my own style, having trained in 4 different martial arts, (taekwondo, karate, aikido, muay thai), i have to rely on my unpredictabality and speed in the streets, which is really effective... though I agree with the getting hurt part, ( i have marks to prove it) I say it depends on the martial artist...

I love fighting those mma guys, they underestimate the traditional martial artists, LOL... I fought one even though he can grapple the fool doesnt know where to hit(i.e the pressure points).... so in the end, i got tackled, beaten up, and bruised all over and he ended up with a cracked upper lip and a broken nose...

IMO it does because hes asking what style/techniques you use in a fight and he pointed out he does Kung Fu some branch of Kung Fu.

Actually, please know that a style doesn't have to be Marital Arts. For example: Street fighting is not something that should be considered Martial Arts.
