so i was browsing retro junk today. reveling in the 90's. then it hit me that this nostalgia could happen with the anime i enjoy now. i know of some sites i could name that have gone down, and games that i loved that are hard to find now. same goes with lots of other things.

so yea, i don't know about you, but i'm gonna start collecting more anime from now on while it's still plentfull. in a decade or so from now, for all i know, anime i like now that i could miss in the future could also be harder to get my hands on.

this overall is somewhat unlikely considering the anime community is exploding these days, and it doesn't show any signs of slowing down like a trend. it'll probably still be going strong and healthy into the future. on top of that, there isn't much any favor of old vs. new anime. so it's all fairly likely to be preserved.

i'm still playing it safe though. don't take things for granted while you have them at the moment. they could be rare in the future.

I think in the future we'll have a lot more 3D anime. Actually one of the reasons people like anime is because they can do things in anime that is hard to pull off in a live action production. As computer technology advances anime might die as we know it. People would rather watch photo-realistic looking animation since they can produce a better result.

That is true Basou. Imagining things like a person flying like in a naruto fight is probably part of the reason we have Narutards. It is just nice to think of your self as a pirate, soul reaper, ninja, or something like that. Same with hot anime girls. Imagining hotties that look like that is just interesting. But whatever...

Actually, I think the anime explosion has officially ended now and it has plateaued. Stores are cutting back their anime and manga supplies, or tucking it away in the back. Studios are being alot more selective with what they licsense. I think alot of this is due to how few people buy anime now as opposed to a few years ago. Honestly, how often do any of you actually buy anime on DVD? Or manga? Also, there is alot more anime on TV than there used to be. It's not easy for them to make money on anime in america, and we are in essence killing our own hobby in america by not supporting it.

Alot of people jumped on the anime bandwagon for the "hipness" factor in the geek community back in the day, now the novelty is wearing off for many and they're going their own way, while some of use have chosen to stay.

All things eventually become the nostalgia of the future. That's innevitable. The difference is that anime will "survive" better thanks to avenues like the internet and DVD that weren't as extensively used back in the 80s and early 90s.

I dont know i am not a big fan of 3 d. They always look like manacans to me and they kinda freak me out. Reason being it is like watching a bunch of dolls. I mean animation will advance as much as gameing advances really. Reasoning being they can copy and make animes in the same way the gameing indurst does almost cheaper than any other way.

I dont know i seen some graphics now that it is it hard to tell if it is a pic of someone or a drawing. Staired at it for awhile and gave up.

I hates 3D ones as well, they always make the background in drawing, and the 3D objects looks awful.

Best anime graphics vs. best CG graphics huh?

FLCL vs. FF movie:The Spirits Within or Advent Children?

Unless they have alot of money to blow, pencil stylized anime will continue to be more cost-effective and uniquely fluid.

CG doesn't stand a chance for the next 25 years. And it looks too much like from film-to-film to hold my interest.

At this point there aren't many good uses of 3D animation in anime. My point was that 10 years (not 25 years) down the road 3D animation will be mind blowing-ly realistic where people can do much more with it.

Just look at the 3D animated cutscenes in some of your favorite japanese video games. That's where the future is heading.

25 years is a long time lusurpher, specially for technology to improve.

Not after eliminating the crap, some anime directors are so unique I can tell theirs from the ocean of mediocrity.

Satoshi Kon's works border on realism and surrealism at the same time! I would never trade his style for CG.

I see a improvment in 3D with more and more anime moving toward that style
