chapter one: L's Death

Summary: Light kills L and regrets it. So he goes to the underworld to get him back.
Warning: This is shounen ai which means a boyxboy pairing. Flames will be used to roast my marshmallows.

Thoughts will be italicized so for example “I did it.” is a thought where as “I did it.” is being spoken.

“I did it.” Light thought to himself, “L is going to die.”

“Light.” L whispered with what little strength he had left.

“Yes, Ryuuzaki?” Light asked worriedly (as to keep up the act). He looked down at the raven-haired boy he was holding in his arms only to be surprised.

Tears were forming in L’s eyes. “Why, Light? Why? How could you?” Tears slowly rolled down L’s face. “I… I loved you.” And with that L’s eyes closed and did not open again.

“What!?” Light thought. “And why would I care?” Light asked himself as he hurriedly brushed away a few tears that were forming. “Pull yourself together! You have to keep up the act.” Or was still an act? “Ryuuzaki! Please wake up!” he cried.

“Light get a hold of yourself.” His dad said “an ambulance is on the way.” Worry showing on his face.

“Ye yeah” Matsuda said trying to sound cheerful but failing miserably.

“If only they knew” Light thought. “L will never be alive again. I’ve got to get out of this room.” He was tired of this room. He was tired of the pressure. And most of he was tired of holding L’s lifeless body. “Dad is it okay if I go out into the hall for a while?”

“Yes of course.” Mr.Yagami said “Are you all right? Maybe you should go to your room instead and get some rest.”

“No Dad I want to see L off to the hospital”. Though he knew there was no hope.

“Well alright then.”

Light carefully set L on the floor and left the room. Once Light was in the hall he thought “What have I done! I’ve killed the person I loved!” Light was stunned. “Wait why did I just think that? Oh well I’m probably just wrapped up in the act.”

“Hyuk Hyuk” chuckled Ryuk. “I didn’t think you’d get that emotional. I thought you hated the boy. Say aren’t you supposed to be enemies?”

“It was just a part of the act.”

“I don’t know. It seemed pretty real.”

“It was a part of the act right?” Light sighed. “I need to think.” He looked up at Ryuk and said “If you stay quiet I’ll give you a red apple.”

As soon as Ryuk was quiet two men with a cot came rushing through into the room where L lay. Light went in after them and saw them put L’s body on the cot.

“It doesn’t look to good” one of the men said.

“You mean there isn’t any hope?” Matsuda asked

“Probably not but we’ll try anyways.” The other man responded while running back out of the room with the cot.

Light watched as they went out of the room with L. “That is the last time I will see him.” He thought to himself.

“Light you should get some sleep” Mr. Yagami said. “I’m sure this all very hard for you.”

“Yeah Dad, I think I will.” Light said, and left the room. As he was walking to his room he asked Ryuk “Once someone’s name is written in the Death Note a hospital won’t save them, right?”

“That is correct.”

“I thought so” Light said as he walked into his room. He plopped down on his bed and began to think. “If L is my enemy why am I upset that I killed him?” Light sighed. “I don’t know what I think of L yet; but there’s something I have to do.” “Hey Ryuk”

“Yes?”

“I need you to take me to the underworld.”
