-Rarely
-Dont care for it personally, either having it done or doing it. I wonder about diffrent cultural norms, probalby some instances where its considered polite to stare...
-hot? unusual? surprised? some condition?
-same as above.

btw I did not notice the above poster.

It used to bother me when people stared at me, but anymore I could care less. I always try to think on the brighter side. They are staring, that means you have caught their attention (negative or positive) it means, in your own way your special. I think for most people stare at things they just are not used to so it directs their attention, then wanna know what it is and how it works, and why it's like that. People are just really curious.

Also different people may have different reasons for staring, I always try to think of reasons like them staring at the old man down the street because their grandpa passed away and he reminds them of him. Or the lady that stares at the man wondering if that is her lost love or just a look alike. Or the little kid who stares at the lady because the little kid wishes she could see her mum. Or the other person who stares at the guy's nose wondering what happened to make it tilt a bit to the side, was he punched?

I tend to stare at people a lot. I watch people like people do squirrels or something. I think it's fun to spot out the different people, the different ways they walk, talk, eat, play, laugh, smile, ect ect. I think by listening to people and watching them I get a view to the many personalities many different people have and the things that make them special. I think that this is an important thing for me as an artist. I want my characters to be more then one dimensions. I don't want them to walk to the same beat, because real people don't. I want them to be so full of flaws that the little things they do have make you feel happy.

Maybe I'm just a bit odd though. Sorry in advance everyone if I see you in real life and end up staring at you.

Aww, too bad I'm incapable of remembering what I read, otherwise I'd have a neat Oscar Wilde quote on this topic.

However, I get stared at sometimes, but it used to be more I think. I guess that's partially due to my clothing/hair colour, so it doesn't bother me usually. At other times when I'm hungover or I just feel a little miserable, I dislike it of course, because I'd much prefer to go unnoticed.

Just plain staring is rude, I rather observe and I like to think people don't feel stared at, because I do it more subtle. Anyway, people who obviously stare usually don't look too smart while doing so, nothing intimidating really.

Why do people stare? In your case it's pretty obvious, you're an unusual sight. In most cases it's because whatever is stared at is unusual/provocating/ugly/beautiful and any extreme.

Generally people stare at me because I act like such a spazz, so I suppose it's my own fault. When that happens I tend to look at them and try to figure out why they're looking at me, and they generally look away before I do. But by then I'm curious so I keep looking at them, and bring about a vicious cycle of staring.

Most of the time when I end up staring at people, it's not because of what they look like or act like, etc, it's just because when I was looking at them I started thinking about something. Generally it has nothing to do with them, and can be random to the point of, "I think I may have gotten question 6 on my math test wrong. What did I do again? I should have done..." and so on. Staring into space makes me lose my focus for some reason, as it takes more concentration than staring at something in particular, so whatever I'm looking at, I just continue. Then they start staring at me, wondering why I'm looking at them, and... Heh, well I mentioned I act like a spazz most of the time.

When people DO look different, be it their hair or skin or clothes, and I look at them, I'm generally wondering what I would look like if I applied the same difference to myself, and how it would change me. Considering I've never dyed my hair or changed my skin color or any of that sort of thing, it's pure speculation. That or I start thinking about a character in a book, and then I dwell on the book's plot for the next hour or so.

My point is, and this may only apply to myself, I don't really know, when I end up staring at someone, it really has more to do with me than with them, and they probably shouldn't worry about it too much. Now if only I could put the same theory into practice...
