Or attend classes at a temple.

Try something new. Take up an instrument, study the flight paths of owls, find something that interests you then pursue it. If nothing interests you then you should be happy doing nothing.

Speaking of irony does anyone feel that the compulsion to help others might be a sign of some sort of psychological defect? It hasn't been proven that altruism is part of human nature (there is usually a reason.) As defects go its not a bad one to have.

Do you feel bored a lot? If so you're not happy doing nothing. You want to do something, you just don't know what. (From personal experience.)

If not, it must be nice to feel so content! Your parents probably just want you to live your life while you're still young. You won't be happy doing nothing forever, I played a lot of games/watched a LOT of anime when I was younger and loved it but eventually that love waned (either that or games/anime started getting a bit kak.)

Point is! You don't want to be stuck thinking about things you could have done, that's what I think the 'rents are thinking. So maybe you should take up something, just in case you eventually get bored of doing nothing. I took up guitar personally, glad I did, sometimes it's nice to just chill, play some chords and sing along.
