China is about 10 years??... maybe.

China sure is rising fast but it comes with some of the worst price that everyone will eventually have to pay for.

What goes up must come down, and this is the inevitable path of all superpowers. America is currently on the way down, international disapproval, a staggering NFD and internal conflict.

In my opinion, the only two countries that the potential economy to rise as superpowers are India and China.

China, while experiencing massive growth, is over-extending itself, pushing too hard and too fast will inevitably result in a collaspe. Although having a billion people to fall back on is a nice safety net, I don't believe it will be enough.

India on the other hand has experienced similar growth to China, although over a longer and ultimately more sustainable period. However the Indian social system leaves a lot to be desired and may severly limit their growth.

My money is on India, who do you believe will emerge as the next world power?

America wont be falling anytime soon. Just automatically thinking that we’re going down because of a relatively brief period of political and economical unrest is foolhardy. Think about The Great Depression. We lived through that and came back up stronger than ever.

Right now America is having trouble because of this war. We’ve gained almost nothing while we keep giving off our resources. This being said we are not currently in our prime, but America has an affinity for rising back up out of tragedy. Even are citizens have a tendency to band together in times of natural disaster. This all being said, the way you started this thread was an attempt to get a cheap shot at America. If, mind you -if- this is true then I’m going to have to ask you to grow up and avoid insulting people’s nations without provocation.

However I would say that China right now has a lot of potential. I think you’re mistaken to say they are exceeding themselves. Actually their army is shrinking. They are replacing the more costly but larger and more intimidating force they have now with a cheaper but more effective lean force. Better trained with fewer soldiers; moreover, they are beginning to build up in a way in which can be compared to Nazi Germany.

They are beginning to be relied upon for technological trade, which is ultimately a boost for their economy. So, if they themselves were not growing into a stronger state of financial security then they would probably have over exceeded themselves with the last 17.8% boost in expenditures dedicated to their martial technological development.

This, however, is not the case. They’ve been selling their first state of the art jet (I think it is called the J-10 or I-10.) to smaller countries that can not properly afford to trade with larger powers such as America.

Also, there is actually an understandable reason for their rapid development that will (considering everything would go as planned, if this theory is in fact correct, which is likely) ultimately benefit China.

See, China has been having a quarrel with Taiwan, whom they consider a renegade province. (Hints they are getting mad at America for selling Taiwan missiles) Because their land is suffering a steady desertification the expansion in their land that could come from capturing Taiwan could prove incredibly valuable.

You must also remember that China has a history for being brutal and harsh. They’re more than happy to sacrifice a few thousand people because they have a few thousand behind them. They are also very rich, but allow their people to exist in poverty.

Yes, poverty. Not all, obviously, but if you’ve taken a peek at the average Chinese citizen you will find that they are incredibly poor compared to say a British or American citizen. They’re much better at using their resources properly, and stretching a little a lot farther. As I understand there are actually places in which they eat pickled babies. (this may be Korea.)

America is afraid of China? Dude America, even in our current condition, has an extreme advantage on China. Economically, politically, and militarily. Our forces are quite scattered, true, but let us (and this is a chimera fantasy cuz it wont happen anytime soon) say that China really does come after us.

Okay, our navy holds them off, the rest of our forces show up, and we crush them. We take some heavy economical losses, China takes some severe economic losses, Taiwan’s economy prospers (as America would be bound to draw them in) and thus China would take a second set of losses.

All in all, America may just be the next Rome. But we’ve got a good century or two ahead of us…most likely. Well, you never know.

Why would it be china just because America is afraid of it dumbass? Their population is growing too fast their economy is in the midst of falling. North Korea is already a 3rd world country, well not entirly, but im well aware that most of the population is poor.

Um, Europe?
Europe is made up of countries >_o
I'd say not India or China. They're both claiming to be the next big thing but arn't.
I'd like to see another little country do it. I mean if Britain can do it, surely someone with a bigger population and a fair sized (not big) country can do it.

Well, We know it won't be the United States, they can't even control illegal foreigners. They're loosing control of everything. And w/o the U.S. I don't think China could make it. I really don't know I hope.... well IDK
