Wow in England? That's rare. It's only a 4.7 mag but I suppose if its your first quake it'd be a scary thing. Like everyone else from CA has said, earthquakes here happen often. I haven't felt one recently, but that's because I moved to the valley to go to uni, but I do remember a decently sized quake when I was like 10. It happened during school hours, and it sounded like thunder and shook the building. Freaked everyone out.

It's not that bad living in an earthquake zone. It's better than having to deal with yearly hurricanes or blizzards.

Thats it? Here bud. Come to california and you will experience several hundred scares a year. We get about 1-3 3+ magnitude earth quakes a year. Rest are smaller but every decade or so we get a big one.

that would be why i'll NEVER live in Cali... i can handle hurricanes... you can go away from them, i can handle tornados you can hide from them, i can handle monsoons, you can stay on high ground, i can handle massive snowstorms...

WHERE THE HELL DO YOU GO WHEN THE ENTIRE EARTH IS SHAKING?!?!?!?!

I'll stay on stable ground, thank you very much.

San Fransisco's 1989 earthquake was the worst at that time.

I just realised from my friends and my own reactions, if we ever have a serious earthquake here in the UK we'd actually probably all die ..... we all thought we were going mad then ran out our rooms shouting "my room is shaking....do u feel it too?" LOLLL

....none of us even considered an earthquake....one friend actually said she "thought it was the wind!"

Haha I love the method of being save in an earthquake. The rule is you are supposed to hide between the door posts and brace yourself. Now the thingi s though when the earthquake is strong enough you cant even make it to said door post haha.

i feel earthquakes all the time here in california. several times a year, at least. scientists say that an absolutley massive quake is just around the corner. one that could potentially level the whole state.

Personally...i'd love to experience one, as long as my house doesn't collapse lol.

But yea, to me it seems like something you have to experience at least once.
