I live in San Jose(San Frans neighbor) and yes we get a couple every year and its ussually really minor but as history shows, we should be in another big one and boy am I gonna get ready for it(or move away before).

I looked on the US Geographical Survey website. The quake the original poster talked about was on the eastern coast. It'd be a sort of an odd place for a new fault (I don't think the UK is on the edge of a plate).

and I just checked It didnt seem to be that it is on a sliding plate so it shouldnt get earthquakes to often.

See dude now that kind of stuff is bs. Earthquakes have no due date nor are they predictable. Its not like a tornado season...

Actually geologists predict the next big one (in CA) to happen within the next 20 years or so. Particularly the Hayward Fault. That fault is getting real fidgety recently.

of course you can't predict when excatly they're coming. but like tornado SEASON (you can predict the general time of year when tornados will show up), you can get a general idea of when an earthquake will occur, you just won't know when...i think the current estimate is 17 years, give or take a few years.

Haven't had a really noticeable earthquake since I was in 6th or something like that... Freaking buildings collapsed and stuff... it was fun O.o

I was well suprised when I was waken up by that eartquake!!
It wasn't strong, but I never experienced it before and I'm quite happy...cause I always was curious about that but I don't want to experience a bigger one

i was surfing the internet at that time and then all of a sudden i felt that my room seem to shake* i thought i was must dreaming so i was like *i dont care* and continue surfing the internet as if nth has happened - it's not till this morning that i finally realised i have experienced my first earthquake *after all my friends kept talking about it *
